‼️CINCINNATI REDS SHAKE UP ROSTER WITH RECENT TRADES❣️
The Cincinnati Reds have been busy this offseason, making several trades to reshape their roster. The latest move saw the Reds acquire right-handed starting pitcher Brady Singer from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for second baseman Jonathan India and outfielder Joey Wiemer.
This trade marks a significant shift in the Reds’ rotation, as Singer brings a proven track record of success to the team. The 27-year-old pitcher has a career ERA of 3.82 and has shown flashes of brilliance in his time with the Royals.
“We’re excited to add Brady to our rotation,” said Reds General Manager Nick Krall. “He’s a talented young pitcher who we believe can make a significant impact on our team.”
The trade also marks the end of an era for Jonathan India, who was a key member of the Reds’ infield for several seasons. India, a first-round draft pick in 2018, had a breakout season in 2021, hitting .269 with 21 home runs and 69 RBIs.
“Jonathan is a talented player who we appreciate for his contributions to our team,” said Krall. “However, we felt that this trade was in the best interest of the team and will allow us to move forward in a positive direction.”
The Reds also traded outfielder Stuart Fairchild to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for pitcher Jake Wong. Fairchild, a second-round draft pick in 2017, had a solid season in 2022, hitting .274 with 5 home runs and 20 RBIs.
In addition to these trades, the Reds have also been active in the free agent market, signing pitcher Nick Martinez to a one-year deal. Martinez, a veteran right-hander, has a career ERA of 4.77 and has pitched for several teams, including the Texas Rangers and San Diego Padres.
As the offseason continues, it’s clear that the Reds are committed to rebuilding their roster and making a push for the playoffs in 2025. With a mix of veteran players and young talent, the Reds are poised to make some noise in the National League next season.
