Carabao Cup semi-final draw
Liverpool will face Tottenham for a place in the final of this season’s Carabao Cup.
Arsenal and Newcastle will meet in the other semi-final clash following tonight’s draw.
Spurs survived a late scare to see off Manchester United in the last quarter-final on Thursday.
As for the Reds, they beat Southampton on Wednesday as Arsenal and Newcastle saw off Crystal Palace and Brentford respectively.
The first leg ties will be played the week commencing January 6.
Meanwhile, the second legs are scheduled for the week beginning February 3.
The final will then take place at Wembley Stadium on March 16.

‘Are you not entertained?’ – Ange
The expected goals from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tell a different story to the scoreline.
Tottenham rallied to see out a 4-3 win despite a second half fight back from Manchester United.
However, the Red Devils can be disappointed to lose based on their xG tonight.
The visitors accumulated 2.58 in expected goals, compared to their opponents’ 0.78.
However, Ange Postecoglou could see the funny side of his side’s shaky defending after letting United back into the match.
Asked about criticism of his side, the Spurs boss said: “Are you not entertained?”

FT: Tottenham 4-3 Manchester United
Spurs hold on to book their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
It was far from easy in the end despite a brace from Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski’s goal putting the hosts 3-0 up.
However, a pair of comical errors from Fraser Forster let United back into it.
Heung-min Son’s late corner went all the way in to restore Spurs’ two-goal lead only for another scare as Jonny Evans scored.
Ange Postecoglou’s side held on, though, to join Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle in the last four.
The draw for the semi-finals is coming up shortly.

FT: Chelsea 5-1 Shamrock Rovers
It’s all over at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea complete their Europa Conference League opening round campaign with six wins from six.
A first half hat-trick from Marc Guiu was followed by goals from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Cucurella.
The Blues also top the league phase to advance directly to the round of 16.
Meanwhile, Shamrock Rovers finish 10th and will contest a play-off tie in the new year.

GOAL! Tottenham 4-3 Manchester United
Surely they couldn’t snatch an equaliser?
United pull another goal back as Jonny Evans flicks a corner past Forster at the near post.
The goal prompts little to no celebrations with the away end already emptying.
Spurs now have just two minutes remaining to hold on to their slim lead.

GOAL! Tottenham 4-2 Manchester United
Now it’s Altay Bayindir’s turn to make a mistake as Spurs put the game out of sight.
The United goalkeeper gets caught under the ball as Heung-min Son whips a corner into the box.
Under pressure from Lucas Bergvall, Bayindir gets nowhere near the ball as it sails all the way in.
The Turkey international’s furious response sees him booked in the aftermarh.
He continued to protest afterwards but with no VAR the goal stands.
Gary Neville was not convinced, stating: “He’s got to be stronger even if there is a slight touch.”
Spurs now have a minute plus stoppage time to avoid any more nightmares.

GOAL! Tottenham 3-2 Manchester United
Another horror moment for Fraser Forster.
A loose first touch from the Spurs keeper allows Amad Diallo to close him down.
Forster’s clearance then ricochets off the winger and into the back of the net.
The goal came from a Spurs free-kick in their own half as the United comeback continues.
A stunned Gary Neville on commentary exclaimed: “One of the most Tottenham things you’ll ever see.”
United have also made another attacking change, with Alejandro Garnacho replacing Manuel Ugarte.

GOAL! Tottenham 3-1 Manchester United
United have a lifeline as Fraser Forster gifts the visitors a goal.
The Spurs goalkeeper’s misplaced pass falls to Bruno Fernandes, who squares for Joshua Zirkzee to score.
A moment to forget for Forster just seconds after he had denied Zirkzee.
The Dutchman’s header was impressively kept out by Forster when he looked certain to score.
Could the Red Devils stage a dramatic comeback?

GOAL! Chelsea 5-1 Shamrock Rovers
Chelsea have a fifth at Stamford Bridge thanks to Marc Cucurella.
The Spanish full-back finishes off a flowing passing move for the Blues to put the game beyond any doubt.
Cucurella capped it off by bursting into the box before hitting a right-footed strike in off the post.

GOAL! Tottenham 3-0 Manchester United
Dominic Solanke has his second goal of the match as he all but finishes off United.
The forward latches onto a ball over the top before cutting onto his right foot.
After slaloming past Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans, Solanke rifles a low effort past Altay Bayindir.
In response, Ruben Amorim has made a triple substitution in a bid to turn the match around.
Antony, Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen make way for Amad Diallo, Joshua Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo.

GOAL! Tottenham 2-0 Manchester United: Dejan Kulusevski
TOTTENHAM HAVE ONE FOOT IN THE SEMI-FINALS
The Red Devils have a mountain to climb now with Dejan Kulusevaski doubling Spurs’ lead in the opening minute of the second half.
A low James Maddison cross from the left wasn’t cleared well by Lisandro Martinez at all.
And pouncing onto the loose ball was Spurs’ star man so far this season in Kulusevski, who lashed home with his right foot from close range.
As thing stand, Spurs join Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle in the semi-finals.

And now he’s added another three to his tally, taking his overall total this season to six.
The Blues are cruising towards another win and the half-time whistle blows straight after the goal.

The half-time whistle blows!
Tottenham lead Manchester United at the break in the Carabao Cup quarter-final thanks to Dominic Solanke’s goal.
United struggled for the majority of the half, but they have had some decent chances to equalise.
Ruben Amorim will want to see more from his side.
Lianne Sanderson live on talkSPORT: “I’m really hoping Amorim makes some changes at the break.
“Alejandro Garnacho needs to come on in this game.”

Tottenham 1-0 Man United
Another injury blow for Man United.
They lost Mason Mount in the Manchester derby, in what was a sad situation considering his injury history.
It’s now the same for Victor Lindelof, who has also only just returned from an issue in recent weeks.
He looks emotional as he leaves the pitch and heads straight down the tunnel while taking his shirt off.
Jonny Evans comes on in Lindelof’s place.

Marc Cucurella sends Christopher Nkunku through before the Frenchman gets brought down.
The referee may have been about to award a penalty until Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall runs into the box…
And the former Leicester man tucks a great effort into the bottom corner to make it 3-1.

Tottenham 1-0 Man United
Man United are still on the backfoot here.
Bruno Fernandes has had a couple of shots after a counter-attack, but the Red Devils have had no control.
And Tottenham continue to pen them into their own half, winning the ball back high up on multiple occasions.
James Maddison is starting to pull the strings too.
Sam Matterface live on talkSPORT: “Man United look a bit lost, they look a bit tired.
“They need a turning point in this game.”

GOAL! Chelsea 2-1 Shamrock: Marc Guiu
Chelsea have restored their lead!
It’s another terrible error from Shamrock though!
This time it’s Dan Clearly who plays a poor backpass, it’s too short and Marc Guiu nips in to get their first.
He rounds the goalkeeper and taps in his second goal.
Enzo Maresca’s side are back on track!

10 minutes to go in the first half in North London.
Man United responded well after conceding but Tottenham are looking a lot more comfortable in the game.
Ruben Amorim’s side look decent when coming forward, but Spurs seem to have more energy and fight at the moment.
Altay Bayindir saved from Dejan Kulusevski a few moments ago and the Swedish international has had tonnes of space all game.

GOAL! Chelsea 1-1 Shamrock Rovers: Markus Poom
Well, that didn’t last long!
Chelsea have conceded to Shamrock Rovers!
That could be a huge goal for the Irish side who are actually sitting inside the top eight of the Conference League table.
A corner bounced through a busy penalty area and fell to Markus Poom who volleyed in from the edge.
The 3,000 away fans go wild!

Chelsea lead at Stamford Bridge!
It’s Marc Guiu who nets the opener after a huge error!
Renato Veiga plays a lofted ball over the Shamrock defence which should be easily dealt with.
But Darragh Burns tries to head back to his goalkeeper and actually puts it over him and towards his own net…
And Guiu is there to just tap home!

DOMINIC SOLANKE MAKES IT 1-0 AFTER 15 MINUTES!
Pedro Porro takes a shot from a long way out, but Altay Bayindir parries straight into the danger area…
It was a powerful strike and the back-up Man United goalkeeper seemed to get his save all wrong.
And it falls straight to Solanke who finishes off the post!
Lianne Sanderson: “That’s really poor goalkeeping.
“Man United were just so slow to react.”

Unlucky, Christopher
Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku has had a rough start to the game…
As he went to take a corner for the hosts in their Europa Conference League clash, the away fans entertained themselves.
The Shamrock Rovers supporters threw lots of white tape at him and onto the pitch!
Nkunku looked back at the away end laughing at them, finding the funny side of the incident.
And it left the Frenchman and his teammates to clean up the pitch before carrying on with the game!

Tottenham 0-0 Man United
Some Man United fans have sent a message to Marcus Rashford.
A sheet was unfurled in the away end pre-match that read: “Excuses. Ta ra Marcus.”
That clearly indicates that group of supporters’ opinion on Rashford’s recent interview and squad absences.
He hasn’t been in the Red Devils’ squad at all in the last two games and manager Ruben Amorim has admitted it is only due to selection.
The banner references a fan statement that came out in 1989, as one supporter called for Sir Alex Ferguson to be sacked.
That one read: “3 years of excuses and it’s still ****… Ta ra Fergie.”
