BREAKING 🗞️: Reds Land Acuña Jr. in Blockbuster Deal‼️
Cincinnati, OH – In a stunning move, the Cincinnati Reds have completed the signing of Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuña Jr. in a massive deal worth $329 million.
The 25-year-old outfielder, widely regarded as one of the most talented players in the game, has agreed to a 10-year contract with the Reds. The deal, which includes a $20 million signing bonus, will keep Acuña Jr. in Cincinnati until the 2032 season.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ronald Acuña Jr. to the Cincinnati Reds organization,” said Reds General Manager Nick Krall. “He is an exceptional talent who will undoubtedly make an immediate impact on our team.”
Acuña Jr., a three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger, has been one of the most dominant players in the National League since his debut in 2018. He has a career batting average of .281, with 105 home runs and 246 RBIs.
The Braves, who had been trying to sign Acuña Jr. to a long-term extension, ultimately decided to trade him to the Reds rather than risk losing him to free agency.
“We are sad to see Ronald go, but we feel this deal is in the best interest of the Atlanta Braves organization,” said Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos.
The Reds, who have been rebuilding their roster in recent years, are hoping that the addition of Acuña Jr. will help them become a competitive force in the National League.
“This is a huge day for the Cincinnati Reds,” said Reds manager David Bell. “We are excited to have Ronald Acuña Jr. join our team and help us compete for a championship.”
Acuña Jr. is expected to make his Reds debut on Opening Day 2024.
