How Man City and Real shape up in their leagues
After an unprecedented run of four consecutive titles, Manchester City sit fourth in the Premier League table, 15 points adrift of leaders Liverpool.
Real Madrid are in pole position in a three-way title race in LaLiga, ahead of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, but have also struggled at times this season, hampered by a series of injuries to their defence.

And defender Ruben Dias said he believes City can still achieve something “beautiful” this season.”Since I have been here this is maybe the most difficult season so far, but I am a firm believer that in the most difficult scenario you can still achieve something beautiful,” the Portugal international said. “We know it will be difficult to get there but we have to believe in what we have in the dressing room. With the right belief, we are able to do anything.” The second leg of the play-off tie takes place at Real’s Bernabeu sta

Man City still worst opponent for Real Madrid, says Ancelotti
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti believes the winner of his side’s Champions League play-off clash with Manchester City will be among the favourites to lift the trophy.
The victor in ties between Real and City has gone on to win the Champions League in each of the past three seasons and Ancelotti expects the streak could continue.
“Yes, the most difficult opponent, most important opponent and against the best manager,” Ancelotti said at a pre-match press conference on Monday.
“I’m convinced the team that goes through in this tie will go very deep into the competition.
“I continue to think City is one of the best teams in Europe and that they have the best coach in this competition. It is still the most difficult game we could have.
“I am surprised they had a period where it was difficult to overcome the injuries but now the team I saw in the last few games is a good team, a competitive team.
“I struggle to imagine Manchester City not being strong. They are really strong with fantastic players and a fantastic manger.”

Guardiola wary of Real threat in Madrid’s attack
Man City and Real Madrid will clash for a fourth consecutive year, having met in four Champions League knockout ties since 2020.
Since the sides met last year, Real have strengthened an already formidable attack with the acquisition of Kylian Mbappe, who is supported by Rodrygo, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.
Guardiola said it would be impossible to shut out Real’s forwards, adding: “They are exceptional.
“How they combine, the runners, the ability one-against-one, how they keep the ball, all four are exceptional. Everybody knows it, so you have to reduce that involvement as much as possible, knowing that it’s going to happen, accept it.”

Real Madrid in the Champions League so far
In the Champions League fixtures, Real Madrid haven’t performed much better than Man City, winning only five of their eight matches.
Ancelotti’s side recovered to achieve a seeded playoff position – but their reward for a sluggish campaign was facing the side they replaced as Champions League winners last season, Manchester City.

Man City in the Champions League so far
Pep Guardiola’s men finished in the 22nd spot on the UCL league phase after winning only three matches out of eight.
City were comfortably beaten by Sporting Lisbon – led by now Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim – and Juventus, blew a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 at home to Feyenoord and conceded four times in the final 35 minutes at Paris Saint-Germain.
