COLUMBUS, OHIO – FEBRUARY 1, 2025

 

The Ohio State University Marching Band has announced the selection of its 2025 university marching band members. After a rigorous audition process, 240 talented musicians and performers have been chosen to represent the university and perform at various events throughout the year.

 

The selection process for the university marching band is highly competitive, with students from all over the country vying for a spot in the prestigious ensemble. This year’s audition process saw a record number of applicants, with students submitting video auditions and participating in in-person auditions on campus.

 

“We are thrilled to welcome this talented group of students to the Ohio State University Marching Band,” said Dr. Christopher Hoch, director of the marching band. “The audition process was incredibly competitive, and we are confident that this year’s ensemble will be one of the best we’ve ever had.”

 

The 2025 university marching band members come from a diverse range of backgrounds and majors, with students representing 22 different states and 65 different academic programs. The ensemble includes 120 returning members and 120 new members, who will come together to form one of the largest and most prestigious marching bands in the country.

 

“I’m so excited to be a part of the Ohio State University Marching Band,” said Emily Chen, a freshman music education major from Columbus, Ohio. “I’ve always been passionate about music and performing, and I know that this experience will help me grow as a musician and a person.”

 

The university marching band performs at various events throughout the year, including Ohio State football games, parades, and concerts. The ensemble is known for its high-energy performances, precise marching, and innovative show designs.

 

“We’re looking forward to an exciting season of performances,” said Dr. Hoch. “Our students have been working hard to prepare for the upcoming year, and we’re confident that our audiences will be impressed by their talent and dedication.”

 

The Ohio State University Marching Band is one of the oldest and most respected marching bands in the country, with a rich history dating back to 1879. The ensemble has performed at numerous high-profile events, including the Rose Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

 

As the 2025 university marching band members prepare for the upcoming season, they are eager to carry on the tradition of excellence that has defined the Ohio State University Marching Band for generations.

 

“I’m honored to be a part of this incredible ensemble,” said Ryan Johnson, a junior music performance major from Dublin, Ohio. “I know that this experience will challenge me to grow as a musician and a performer, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for us.”

 

The Ohio State University Marching Band will begin rehearsals in August, with the first performance of the season scheduled for September 2.
