One of the world’s biggest derbies sees Manchester United entertain Manchester City in the English Premier League.
The match at Old Trafford, Manchester, United Kingdom, kicks off at 12:30pm (12:30 GMT).
United are seventh in the English top flight and have replaced manager Ruben Amorim with interim coach Michael Carrick.
City have recovered from a below-par season in their last campaign to sit second, six points behind leaders Arsenal.
The Gunners travel to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League’s evening kickoff on Saturday.

When did United last beat City in the Manchester derby?
United’s last victory in the derby came last season with a 2-1 win in the Premier League match at Etihad Stadium.
City led, through Josko Gvardiol’s first-half strike, with two minutes remaining of the match, but one of Amorim’s finest hours was to follow.
Amad Diallo netted a late equaliser to the delight of the away support, which soon turned to delirium, though, when Bruno Fernandes netted an injury-time penalty.

After Manchester City, United face a trip to Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Quite the start for Carrick, a coach barely experienced at this level.
The 44-year-old is also taking on a role that increasingly looks like an impossible job after Amorim became the sixth coach or manager to make way since Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

What happened in the corresponding fixture last season?
Last season’s Premier League encounter at Old Trafford resulted in a dour 0-0 draw on April 6.
United were already long out of contention for their aim of Champions League qualification, but City’s place at European football’s top table was still in doubt.
United also had one eye on the upcoming Europa League final against Tottenham, which ultimately ended in defeat.

Seoul, South Korea – Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner walked into an all-white hall dressed as the physical embodiment of yin and yang. Sinner, in all black, and Alcaraz, in a white top and black bottoms, were greeted with thunderous applause at the Hyundai Card headquarters in Seoul last week.
While their contrasting styles of play and on-court demeanour make the tennis rivals stand out as a modern-day example of the famous Chinese philosophy, the two superstars had plenty in common as they shared wide smiles and looks of astonishment in front of a large contingent of reporters, photographers and close to 100 employees in the South Korean capital.
Once seated, Alcaraz turned to his right, glanced at his great rival and mouthed the word “wow”.
Four years on from their first ATP tour meeting in France, the duo steal the limelight and headlines wherever they go.

How have Man City fared in the Premier League this season?
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City appear to be returning to somewhere close to their best. For a team that won an unprecedented four Premier League titles in a row, however, they still have some way to go.
City are six points behind Arsenal and second in the league table, despite three consecutive draws.
They are still in the hunt for four trophies, and a victorious run – similar to that which saw them lift five trophies in 2023 – cannot be ruled out.
Indeed, City arrive with their own narrative twist with January-signing Antoine Semenyo stealing the headlines.
Two games, two goals, and his own chant from the Etihad faithful, Semenyo has injected a dose of unpredictability into Guardiola’s well-oiled machine.
While City’s three draws cost them precious points in the title race, their recent form suggests they are rediscovering their ruthless edge, with a 10–1 FA Cup demolition of League One side Exeter City and a 2-0 League Cup semifinal win over Newcastle United on Tuesday.

How have Man Utd fared in the Premier League this season?
United are seventh in the table with one win in their last six league matches – add to that last week’s FA Cup exit, and the mood is flat on the red side of Manchester.
Overall, United have won eight, drawn eight and lost five of their 21 league matches this season and sit three points off fourth spot and one off fifth.
A victory in the early kickoff would take them above Liverpool in the fourth automatic qualification spot for next season’s Champions League.

Maguire backs Carrick’s return
Michael Carrick’s arrival as interim boss has been welcomed by United defender Harry Maguire, who described him as a “magnificent coach” when he was assistant to Solskjaer.
“He has got great ideas, speaks really well and is, tactically, really, really good,” Maguire told United’s website.
“We’ve had a couple of sessions, and I think he’s trying to bring new energy and new ideas, without drilling us too much tactically, at this moment.
“He wants to bring the energy back into the building, and I think that’s so important.”

Last up for Al Jazeera Sport – AFCON finalist confirmed
Our last live action on Al Jazeera Sport saw Senegal and Morocco book their places in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Senegal were the first to book their place in the early kickoff on Wednesday, with a 1-0 win against Egypt.
Morocco then saw off the challenge of Nigeria later in the day, although penalties were required to separate the sides after a stalemate following extra time.
