Paris Saint-Germain are poised to reignite their interest in Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, it has been claimed.
The French giants are long-term admirers of Rashford, 26, and previously held talks with the England international back when it seemed as though a move abroad could be on the cards.
Rashford opted to stay at Old Trafford went on to enjoy a career-best season under Erik ten Hag, plundering 30 goals. However, he endured a disappointing campaign last year and there has been further speculation over his future with United’s top brass believed to be open to offers for all but a handful of key players.
That has led to renewed interest from PSG, according to talkSPORT, with the Ligue 1 outfit looking to replace Kylian Mbappe. It’s noted that they will step up their interest in Rashford should they receive any encouragement from the United forward.

Transfer news LIVE: Osimhen agreement, Man Utd ‘ready to let Rashford leave’, Arsenal’s first deal
PSG’s latest stance on Rashford comes just months after it was reported that they were set to shelve their interest due to Manchester United’s demands. It was claimed back in April that the Red Devils were demanding a sum of £100million in order to part with their homegrown striker, who missed out on a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad.
Rashford signed a bumper new contract with United off the back of his 30-goal campaign in September 2023. His mooted salary of £325,000 would likely be an issue for any potential suitors if offers are made in the transfer window.
Despite speculation linking him with a move elsewhere – and the fact that the club are open to offers for the majority of their first-team squad – it emerged last week that Rashford has no plans to leave Old Trafford.

Scott McTominay

Hello and welcome to the Manchester United live blog from MEN Sport. It should be a busy final week of the transfer window for Erik ten Hag and Co, especially after the defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion exposed yet more holes in the squad.
Despite hitting back in the second half – and even taking a brief lead before Alejandro Garnacho’s disallowed goal – United were condemned to another miserable afternoon on the south coast after Joao Pedro’s last-gasp winner. For Ten Hag, it came after the call to once again leave Jadon Sancho out of the matchday squad.
The Englishman is in talks to leave United this summer, with Juventus the latest club expressing their interest in him. There will seemingly be other outgoings as well.
Victor Lindelof and Scott McTominay could still be sold before the deadline as Dan Ashworth seeks to find them new homes away from Old Trafford. The latter is attracting more buzz and has already seen bids rejected. Napoli are now in the market for his signature.
Ten Hag also spoke about Manuel Ugarte possibly (and now expectedly) arriving. His response – “we always look for better” – indicates that changes are afoot. Elsewhere and reported midfield target Andre is likely to leave Fluminese this window, his president has announced. That might be a deal to watch as silly season kicks into full flow for a busy last few days. Here is the place to keep up with the latest Manchester United headlines and stories.

Palmer move urged
Jamie Carragher believes Chelsea star Cole Palmer could join Manchester United next season if the Blues endure a poor campaign under Enzo Maresca.
“Something’s just come to me here. If Chelsea have another poor season, we were talking earlier about Manchester United having a real problem on that right wing,” Carragher told The Overlap.
“He [Palmer] is a big Man United fan isn’t he? Would that not be something that United should visit maybe in 12 months if it doesn’t go well? You know what, I think that could happen. Yeah, Cole Palmer to Man United.”

Toney update
Brentford striker Ivan Toney’s transfer could reportedly be completed within the next 24 hours after he again was left out of the Bees’ squad for their trip to Liverpool.
The England international’s future at the London club has been in doubt all summer after Toney made it abundantly clear last season that he wanted a ‘big move’. With Manchester United looking for strikers in the summer transfer window, the 28-year-old was inevitably linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
Despite all the talk surrounding the Reds, Toney’s most likely destination is Saudi Arabia. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Al Ahli have agreed terms with the forward over a move to the Middle East.

Sancho deal
Chelsea and Juventus are exploring a deal for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, according to Sky Sports.
It’s understood that Chelsea’s proposal could include a player going the other way. United would prefer a permanent move but a loan is not ruled out. Sancho travelled down to Brighton on Saturday but was not included in the squad.

Ferdinand on Welbeck
Rio Ferdinand has admitted that Manchester United should never have sold Danny Welbeck this summer.
“Nothing surprises me with Danny Welbeck,” Ferdinand said on TNT Sports. “I watched him as a young kid at Manchester United and he was a wonderful player.
“I couldn’t believe it when United agreed to let him go because I thought he had so much value, not only as a player but just around the place as well as a former academy player.
“I think he’s someone who players who have played against him respect more than some fans who don’t quite realise how difficult he is to play against. He’s a great professional too.”

Chiesa force
Manchester United could be forced to purchase Juventus’ unwanted winger Federico Chiesa if they wish to part company with Jadon Sancho this summer.
Sancho has had an interesting few months. At first, it seemed as though the winger would definitely be sold upon his return from Borussia Dortmund, but Erik ten Hag insisted the hatchet had been buried between the pair and did use the forward during the pre-season tour of the United States.
MEN Sport understands that Sancho could be allowed to leave the Reds this summer so long as their £40m valuation has been met. Juventus have been one of the teams linked with him, but according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, they are being blocked from completing a deal while Chiesa remains on their books.

Ugarte transfer completes Ten Hag squad as Mainoo and Yoro confusion explained
United have so far used 17 players across the first two games of the 2024/25 Premier League season. All but two have them have featured in both matches against Brighton and Fulham.
In total, there are 31 names listed on the Men’s squad section of the Manchester United website. Last term Erik ten Hag gave appearances to 31 himself, although it is not the same group as he has started with this year. Only 27 started a match. Even fewer, just 24, started more than once, and 20 started at least five.
Even in an injury-hit campaign across the field, United still ended up hitting the norm and balancing out the group. Splitting it up again, of those with five or more total appearances, there were Under-21s. So, despite naming an initial 25-man squad after the summer transfer window, their inclusion was not registered.

Ugarte update
Manchester United are set to complete the permanent signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Should Scott McTominay’s proposed £25million move to Napoli go through as expected, United will proceed to trying to sign Ugarte.
PSG have been adamant over their £51m valuation for Ugarte.

Sancho ‘discount’
Jadon Sancho would reportedly welcome a move to Juventus but must seemingly take a wage cut as United do not want to make up the rest of his salary that the Italian club cannot cover.
Calciomercato claims that is the case and acknowledges that the clubs are in continuing contact, with the situation described as very strong. But it will only be a loan deal because the team from Turin are set to spend €60million (£50.8m) on Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.
They also state signing Sancho is linked to Chiesa leaving. The winger is seemingly pushing for a move to Barcelona despite the Catalan clubs still being unable to register Dani Olmo, which will likely delay any move by days.

Frank on Toney
Thomas Frank has revealed that Manchester United target Ivan Toney has not been included in the Brentford squad for the second successive week due to ongoing transfer speculation.
He told Sky Sports: “The status is the same as last week. Things are going on with transfer speculation so the decision is the same. He is training well, there is no problem. I’d rather focus on the game and the players that are playing instead of talking about him.”

United lost to a club with a better plan and Ineos have to make up for lost time
There might come a time this season when Manchester United’s miserable 2023/24 Premier League season will be consigned to history. We’ll stop talking about it, stop using it as a tool for comparison. It suddenly won’t feel all that relevant.
For now, with the second stage of the Erik ten Hag era still in its infancy, it’s going to condition how we view this team. It’s the prism through which United are being judged early in the campaign.
And if the judgements on the opening weekend were encouraging, this was more of a concern. It wasn’t quite the collapse we associated United with so often last season. For a lot of the afternoon, they were harder to play against, more structured and more controlled. But they can’t kick the addiction to chaos.

De Gea to Jones – Where 11 players who left United permanently last season are now
The 2023/24 season will go down as the end of an era at Manchester United which many supporters will have been happy to see the back of.
Signings fell squarely on the shoulders of Erik ten Hag who came under his fair share of scrutiny for perceived weak deals and favouritism towards players who had previously played for him. While all his signings have survived, the final Glazers era season saw 11 players leave the club permanently.
From David de Gea to Phil Jones, MEN Sport has looked around Europe and beyond at where those who left United last season are now.

United ‘agree’ huge Napoli transfer deal with Ugarte and FFP impact
Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Serie A side Napoli to sign Scott McTominay.
The Athletic have reported that a £25.4million deal has been agreed but the proposal is subject to all parties being satisfied with the player’s personal terms. The report adds that United have included a clause which will see them receive a share of any future sale from Antonio Conte’s side.
The Scotland international is into the final 12 months of his current deal at Old Trafford, with the option of a further year, but the prospect of a departure for the 27-year-old will see United bank pure profit in the eyes of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

United reach McTominay ‘agreement’
United have reportedly agreed to sell Scott McTominay to Napoli.
The Athletic reports that a fee of around €30million (£25.4m) has sealed the deal, with the outlet acknowledging the Reds will receive a share of any future transfer. It is caveated by all parties still needing to be happy with the player’s terms.

More on McTominay
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that an agreement between Napoli and United has not been reached despite claims to the contrary from the Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino.
In an update about the Italian club closing in on the signing of Billy Gilmour, which they reputedly want to conclude today, Di Marzio acknowledges that the deal does not mean they will not add another midfielder, mentioning McTominay by name. He adds that failing to agree a move with United has, though, led to them choosing to finalise a deal to sign his international teammate Gilmour.

Juventus must ‘free up funds’ for Sancho
Juventus must reportedly cash in on Federico Chiesa to free up funds for Jadon Sancho.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims contact continues over doing a deal, with it said that United would have to accept a loan without an obligation to make the move permanent. Despite selling Chiesa, to Barcelona or a Premier League club, they will still not pay all of the player’s wages, only part of them.
Sancho would also seemingly replace Chiesa in the squad, which is why the interest from Juventus that started early in the summer has returned as the Italian is reputedly nearing a move.

McTominay ‘waiting with his suitcase in Manchester’
The conflicting reports from Italy continue to emerge this morning as Corriere dello Sport claims Napoli prioritises signing Scott McTominay over his international teammate Billy Gilmour.
That change is said to have come over recent days, with the United midfielder overtaking Gilmour in Napoli’s eyes. It is claimed that an agreement is now close, with McTominay said to be waiting with his suitcase in Manchester. That deal is reputedly worth £25.4million (€30m).
The Italian club are said to have targeted the player with complete conviction of making him theirs. However, it is acknowledged they must hurry with days remaining in the window.

Eriksen update
Fabrizio Romano has clarified to GIVEMESPORT that United have no bids for Christian Eriksen.
For Eriksen, it will depend on the proposals. A lot of rumours, a lot of stories, but from what I heard there is still no bid on Manchester United’s table. They have not received any formal approach from any club.
Let’s see if someone will arrive with a good proposal for Eriksen and if that proposal is quite attractive for the player that could be the case otherwise [that he will leave]. At the moment, the situation is still quiet from what I’m hearing, so it will depend on proposals. But again, a lot of noise, but still no bids on the table.”

Sancho to Juventus ‘exchange ongoing’
Jadon Sancho will reportedly not join Juventus on anything other than a loan because they cannot afford to pay the player’s wages in full.
Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing:
Manchester United were thinking of a permanent transfer but Juventus will not do a permanent deal in the final days, so it has to be a loan with a buy option clause with the salary to be discussed. That’s because Juventus will not cover the entire salary of Jadon Sancho, so that exchange is still ongoing. Let’s see what Juventus will decide to do.
In general, the Sancho situation is still open because he could leave Man United. And the reason why Sancho was not in the squad is that he’s also open to leaving Man United.

Amrabat update
United are reportedly unwilling to pay what Fiorentina want for Sofyan Amrabat.
Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, claims the club from Florence are demanding €15m (£12,7m) for the Moroccan midfielder. The player has seemingly wanted a return all summer, but those hopes now seem over.
Amrabat has been reintegrated into the Fiorentina team, playing the full 90 minutes of their Serie A season-opener against Parma and coming on as a substitute in their midweek Champions League qualifier. They play Venezia this evening and his involvement would expectedly confirm no move is on the cards to end months of speculation.

McTominay ‘offer accepted’
United have reportedly accepted a €25m offer from Napoli for Scott McTominay.
CalcioNapoli24 relays the Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino claims that a bid has apparently been accepted. It is said that a deal seems to be done, with the midfielder reputedly ready to sign a four-year contract.
has previously reported that the Reds rejected an offer of the same amount from Napoli, claiming the club wanted over €30m for McTominay. However, contrasting reports are now coming out of Naples. Their head coach Antonio Conte is seemingly keen to bolster the midfield, with Billy Gilmour already agreeing to move there.

Ugarte transfer complete, Sancho sold and Mejbri decisions – Man United dream 25-man squad
It’s been a busy summer for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United in the first transfer window of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’ tenure.
With four new additions to the squad, it hasn’t been a complete rebuild but enough to freshen up the squad ahead of another rollercoaster campaign. United continue to be linked with a move for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte, and the MEN understands he’ll likely be the only addition for the remainder of the window.
In terms of departures, Jadon Sancho’s future remains a mystery, and youngster Hannibal Mejbri has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer. Here, the Manchester Evening News looks at what the best case 25-man Premier League squad could be, and it makes for good reading.
Taking into account rules regarding homegrown players and under-21s who don’t have to be accounted for in the main group (and must have been born on or after January 1, 2003), this is the selection made. As per the current guidelines, United have a 24-man squad for the Premier League, but that could be shrunk further with certain departures.

McTominay ‘interest remains strong’
Despite seemingly seeing a recent offer rejected by United, Napoli’s interest reputedly remains strong in Scott McTominay regardless of any medical Billy Gilmour is waiting to have.
Fabrizio Romano offers an update on the situation in this morning’s Daily Briefing:

Managing United: Ugarte transfer, Sancho decision and Toney hijack
It has been a busy summer for Manchester United with it being the first under the ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.
But there is now less than a week of the transfer window left and clubs will be working to sort out any last-minute deals. That will be the same at Old Trafford for possible incomings and outgoings.
So what could the last few days of the transfer window look like at United? MEN Sport has highlighted several scenarios that would play out if we were in Ten Hag’s shoes over the coming week of the transfer window.

Sancho’s ‘really risky move’
Michael Owen believes Jadon Sancho took a real risk returning to Borussia Dortmund last season.
Owen told Prime Casino:
Jadon Sancho took a really risky move in many ways but almost an unavoidable one in going back to where he was to try to reignite that spark, and he’s done particularly well.
I’m sure he probably would have preferred there to have been a change of manager at Old Trafford so it was a clean slate and he could come back and hopefully start again.
I don’t know what his future holds, but he’s certainly gone away and proven that he can still cut it at the top level.

Napoli reportedly remain set to sign Billy Gilmour as a potential alternative to Scott McTominay.
Fabrizio Romano has reiterated that the Italian club plan for the Brighton and Hove Albion player to have a medical in the coming days. The two teams have already verbally agreed a deal for around £15million.
