Harry Kane has already made feelings clear after Man Utd bosses blocked transfer

Manchester United were heavily linked with Harry Kane, but the former Tottenham star ended up swapping the Premier League for the Bundesliga by joining Bayern Munich

Harry Kane has no regrets over his move to Bayern Munich in the summer, despite transfer interest from Manchester United.

The England captain, 30, was once again wanted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs in the build-up to the 2023/24 campaign. United were heavily linked with Tottenham’s star striker, but it’s understood the Londoners had no appetite to sell their talisman to a domestic rival.

That paved the way for Bayern Munich to acquire Kane’s services in a deal worth in excess of £100million. And ironically, Kane’s new team was then drawn in the same Champions League group as United, setting up a swift reunion.

Kane was on the scoresheet in Bayern’s thrilling 4-3 victory back in September and could end United’s European hopes for good in Tuesday’s reverse fixture, with Erik ten Hag’s side needing a victory to keep their chances of progression alive.

Ahead of the first match, Kane made it clear that he was happy to have joined the German giants ahead of United. Speaking at a press conference back in September, he said: “Obviously over the summer I know there were some talks between a few clubs in the background, but Bayern was a team I was really interested by and really excited by, so there weren’t many other discussions.

“Once they came in, it was between them and Tottenham to talk, and the deal got done. My focus is on here, obviously Manchester United are a great club, a really big club as well, but I decided to come here and I’m really happy I have.”

Despite speculation to the contrary, Ten Hag was keen on making Kane his marquee summer signing in a blockbuster deal. However, the Dutchman saw such a move blocked by the Manchester United hierarchy.
