Man Utd want to sign Burnley midfielder Sander Berge
Manchester United have had a productive summer transfer window and could make more signings before the deadline on August 30.
The Red Devils are searching for a new defensive midfielder and have reportedly made an offer for Burnley’s Sander Berge.
However, their proposal has fallen short of the Clarets’ £30 million valuation for the 26-year-old.
Berge could replace Scott McTominay at United
McTominay is attracting plenty of interest from Premier League and European clubs. Napoli are one of the midfielder’s admirers, but they are only interested in a loan deal.

The 26-year-old would reportedly prefer to stay in the Premier League. The Sun claims Fulham, Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion could compete for his signature.
Fulham have recently reopened talks with United. The Cottagers are likely to improve on their previous £20m bid and could be favourites to sign him due to their long-term interest.
United are probably looking at Berge as his replacement. They may ideally want to land Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, but the £51m asking price is a stumbling block.
Berge, who was named as Burnley’s Player of the Season, fared well in the Premier League last term.

He would be an upgrade on Casemiro with his better ball retention skills but he would need to cut down on occasional errors.
He made two errors leading to goals last season. One of those came against United in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford back in April.
McTominay’s departure could pave the way for an improved bid for Berge. United could be willing to pay closer to the price tag.
