‘Henderson kept us alive’

Crystal Palace boss Glasner, spoke about the match as well: “Dean Henderson kept us alive. In the first half, we have never played like this [before]. I don’t talk about tactics. [We played] without courage. Very passive and this is how we don’t want to play, but it happened.

“The chance at the end of the first half gave us some confidence. Second half was much better. We could’ve won the game, but honestly, it was a bit too much today. We have to be critical of us when we play like [we did in the] first half. It makes no sense to play like this.”

“Everyone did it in a better way in the second half. We switched the system to control the middle. At the end, it worked.”

‘We should have won’

Manchester United boss ten Hag shared his thoughts: “We should have won. First half, we should have scored one or two goals. We played very good. Total control of the game. The only thing was in the box. We should be more clinical there.

“One mistake leads to a big chance for them [in the 45th minute], but we should have been two-nil, three-nil up. They closed the midfield more, they had so many good counter-attacks. The flip side is they got more space. A brilliant save from Onana, twice in one action, was just brilliant.

“Henderson played a very good game. How many balls he had to stop. Andre had to wait and be ready for the right moment, which he did. We lost two points because of the first half. At least we didn’t lose the game. We have worked very hard on our pressing and to be defensively compact. On the ball, we are now very good.”

‘It was a game of two halves’

Henderson, who was adjudged Man of the Match, provided his thoughts as well: “I think in the end we missed a couple of key opportunities. There was one in the first half. Andre made a great save. It was a game of two halves. We will take the point and be delighted with it.

“We wanted to win the game. We had a game plan, but they did really well [in the first half]. We made some tweaks in the second half by being more aggressive, which is why we were better.

“[On what Glasner said at half-time] It was the intensity, the belief. He was obviously frustrated with the way we were playing. He said we had nothing to lose so to go after it.”

‘We were better than them’

A clearly disappointed Onana shared his thoughts post-match with Sky Sports: “We have to try and win. We had so many chances, but we didn’t score. It is tough to go home with one point when you deserved to win.

“Sometimes football, you can’t control it. We had more chances. Today we hit the crossbar twice. Hopefully in the coming games, we score a lot.

“I think we were better than them. We had the best chance during the game. They are a good team, but we are better than them.

“Always nice to have a clean sheet, but the most important thing, especially when playing for Man Utd, is you have to win. We go back home disappointed.”

Full-time: Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester United

United fail to convert after putting in a dominant performance for much of the first and second half.

Crystal Palace had their moments as well, but it was their shotstopper Henderson who proved his weight in gold today against his former club.

He made six saves while also providing great leadership from the back to keep the Crystal Palace defence in check.

Garnacho was United’s best player, but started to fade away in the second half.

Heading towards draw

With regulation time running out, it is clear both sides will not be too disappointed with a point each today.

Crystal Palace looked at one stage that they were going to go for it, but have started to play a bit more sideways than their fans would like.

Eze squanders glorious chance

This was the moment for Crystal Palace.

After going on a break, it culminates with Sarr playing a ball towards an advancing Eze.

Eze looks to side-foot it past Onana into the near post, but ends up directing it wide.

So close for the hosts there, who will be contemplating what could have been?

United win free kick

Eriksen whips it in from about 25 metres out on the right side.

It curls into the middle, but with so many United players nearby, is unable to find a receiver.

De Ligt rushes out claiming there was a Crystal Palace handball, but a subsequent check proves otherwise.

The resulting corner is taken from the left side, but again United are unable to fashion anything out of it.

Onana makes vital double-stop

After having not much to do for the majority of the game, United’s shotstopper is called into action.

First, he has to negotiate a tough, low strike from Nketiah on the charge, which he is able to deflect to the left side.

A converging Sarr tries to edge it past him from near range, but he once again makes the necessary block.

Superb from the United keeper, who keeps this match tantalisingly close for now.

Garnacho forces Henderson save

He once again proves the difference after pawing away a right-footed curling strike from the left side.

This one was destined for the top right corner.

Soon after, Martinez is booked for a clumsy two-footed stamp near Kamada.

Henderson finds himself in the book too after protesting the challenge from the United defender.
