Manchester United have rejected bids from Galatasaray for Scott McTominay following his resurgence last year.

McTominay, 27, looked all but certain to be on his way out of Old Trafford last summer and was the subject of interest from West Ham, although the Londoners fell short of meeting United’s demands for the academy graduate.

The Scotland international went on to enjoy the most productive season of his career, scoring 10 goals and establishing himself as a key figure during what was a difficult campaign for the club and Erik ten Hag. It has now emerged via The Manchester Evening News that McTominay is already attracting interest this summer – and that bids from Galatasaray have been knocked back.

McTominay is in the final year of his contract but United do hold a one-year option to extend those terms. There are also doubts as to whether the Turkish giants would actually be able to meet the club’s valuation of the player.

Galatasaray vice-chairman Ibrahim Hatipoglu has confirmed that the club are in talks over a potential deal for McTominay, while Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is also a target.

McTominay is valued highly by Manchester United following Ten Hag’s U-turn on selling him. There was even suggestions that the club would open talks over a new contract last season, while his standing in the squad was underlined back in December when he was made captain for the match against United’s arch-rivals, Liverpool.
