Form guide – Manchester City
City’s form guide is perhaps one of the best known in the world – five straight defeats is unheard of in Pep Guardiola’s managerial career and was unthinkable for a side that won five trophies in 2023.
Tottenham, in the League Cup and the Premier League, bookend the run, while Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League and Brighton and Ipswich Town in the league have completed the miserable mood at Manchester City.

Head-to-head: Manchester City vs Feyenoord
The clubs have only met on two occasions and both ended in wins for City.
The group stage matches were played in 2017 with Raheem Sterling scoring the only goal in a win for City in Manchester, while John Stones scored twice with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus bagging the other in a 4-0 return leg victory for the Cityzens.

Kevin De Bruyne admits injury frustration as starting return beckons
Midfield playmaker Kevin De Bruyne was out for many weeks after picking up a niggle in mid-September but has made three substitute performances since his return to action earlier this month.
“I can help the team but you can only do so much from the side,” he said. “It’s frustrating because I know if I was feeling good I could help the team, but I wasn’t able to do that.
“It’s been a bit chaotic, I would say. I’ve seen so many people around the medical area, sports science, [you wonder] who’s playing, who is not playing. There were people who shouldn’t be playing, but they did anyway, with injuries.”

Pep backs City for ‘very good things’ despite five straight defeats
“I have the feeling that this season we will do very good things,” he told his pre-match news conference. “I don’t give up and I have the feeling we will be there. You are defending a legacy, a tradition, a success that is so difficult to handle,” he added.
“So, that’s why I relax. If we don’t do it, we don’t do it. It’s just to try to focus in the short period of time and win the next games. So, what I want is a commitment. I want the players in certain departments to be more focused. Step by step, we come back. This too shall pass. Life is like that. When you think it’s perfect, you are wrong. It’s going to rain tomorrow. So, it’s life.
“Right now, the most important thing is not tactics, it is to win a game on desire. You look at December and at the end of the season, whether you need to change things and be more solid, but these guys will do very, very good things.”

Last up in the Champions League for Feyenoord
Striker Karim Konate snatched a double as Salzburg scored their first goals of the Champions League group competition and also picked up their first points with a surprise 3-1 away win at Feyenoord on November 6.
Konate took advantage of defensive slips for his goals but it was substitute Daouda Guindo who made sure of the win with a stunning left-footed finish as the 10-man Dutch side threatened a late comeback
Feyenoord had won their last two group games away at Girona and Benfica and were fancied to climb the table but were stunned on their return to De Kuip by the youthful Austrian outfit.
The hosts had substitute Chris-Kevin Nadje sent off in the 79th minute after a VAR review saw an initial yellow card for a studs-up tackle changed to red.

Manchester City formation and changes
Despite there being rumours about a potential return to the first team, it looks like De Bruyne will once again feature off the bench.
Savinho, who played in City’s last match against Tottenham Hotspur, where they lost 4-0, has been replaced by Nunes. Akanji and Ake will pair in the middle, while the side is greatly boosted with the return of Dias.
City will also roll out with a 4-3-3 to mimic Feyenoord’s formation.

Feyenoord formation and changes
As expected, Feyenoord are bolstered by the return of Gimenez, Bijlow and Lotomba. Captain Timber slots right back into midfield, accompanied by Hwang and Milambo.
The Dutch side have opted for an aggressively minded 4-3-3.

Early Feyenoord team news
The Dutch are boosted by the return of Justin Bijlow, Jordan Lotomba, captain Quinten Timber and Santiago Gimenez.
The quartet all made the squad that travelled to Manchester, despite missing the Eredivisie fixture at the weekend.
Calvin Stengs continues his return to full fitness after three months out and has not made the squad.

Early Manchester City team news
With Ballon d’Or winner Rodri sidelined for potentially the rest of the season, City are at least turning on a corner on their extensive injury list.
Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic suffered an injury on international duty last week to add to the absentees.
Defenders Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake are in line for a return, however, to boost the backline that is also close to welcoming back Ruben Dias.
Kevin De Bruyne came off the bench against Spurs and is expected to start while Jeremy Doku returned to training on Monday.

Sporting thrash City as Amorim left for Manchester on a high
Sporting Lisbon came from behind to thrash Manchester City 4-1 at the Jose Alvalade Stadium, as Ruben Amorim led the home side for the final time in the Champions League before he took the reins at Manchester United.
The result meant Pep Guardiola’s City slipped to the third straight defeat in all competitions, of this five-game losing run, after losses to Bournemouth in the Premier League and Tottenham in the League Cup.
City had made a perfect start with a goal from Phil Foden in the fourth minute, but Viktor Gyokeres scored an equaliser just before the break and went on to score two second-half penalties to bag a hat-trick, while Erling Haaland missed a spot kick by hitting the crossbar when City were 3-1 down.
Sporting moved up to second in the Champions League standings with 10 points from four matches, while City fell to sixth with seven points.
