Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly confident that he will remain in charge beyond the end of the international break despite crunch talks on his future this week.
MEN Sport reported on Monday that Thomas Tuchel was being lined up as a potential replacement candidate for Ten Hag should the Reds decide to sack the Dutchman. After a meeting that same day at Old Trafford, Ineos and several other United executives attended a meeting in London to further discuss first-team performances as well as the manager’s future.
It is believed this meeting was deemed ‘routine’ and could not be seen as an indicator one way or another about Ten Hag’s destiny. On Wednesday, sources told the Manchester Evening News that a lack of statement regarding the managerial position did not necessarily mean that the Dutchman is safe from the sack.

However, according to the Daily Star, Ten Hag is under no impression that his job may not be there when he returns back from his holiday next week. It is believed the manager is ready to prepare for the visit of Brentford to Old Trafford on Saturday, October 19.
The report does add though that Ten Hag has been informed by Ineos that results must improve soon if he wishes to retain the support of the boardroom. It is understood at this stage that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is hesitant to dismiss Ten Hag so soon after triggering his contract extension.
Ten Hag has admitted that United contacted Tuchel about replacing him in the summer but came to the conclusion that the current boss was the right man for the job.
