Manchester United are gunning to make their mark in the transfer market this summer – despite completing deals for Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee already – but Erik ten Hag and key figures behind the scenes at Old Trafford have also made three further additions to their first-team squad ahead of the big kick-off.
Step forward, Harry Amass, Toby Collyer and Ethan Wheatley. The highly-rated Academy graduates headed out on tour with United to the USA this summer and caught the eye with their performances.
Amass, in the continued absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia at left-back, was particularly impressive, and the teenager is tipped to make his competitive debut in the Community Shield on Saturday afternoon. A meeting with star-studded Manchester City awaits beneath the famous arch at Wembley.

The 17-year-old is set to be the next graduate from United’s famed Academy system to make a breakthrough into their senior set-up. That’s if midfielder Collyer and striker Wheatley don’t get there first!
All three could be included in the matchday squad vs title-winning neighbours City in the traditional curtain raiser. United are missing several players through injury for that game.
“I said already there is potential,” said Ten Hag on MUTV when he was asked about the impact made by Amass on tour. The former Ajax manager – in true United fashion – underlined his talent while mapping out the long road any promising young player has to negotiate on their way to the very top.
