Manchester City look to continue their superb Premier League record against Newcastle this afternoon. Pep Guardiola’s side were beaten in dramatic fashion by Real Madrid in midweek but will be confident of bouncing back immediately here – Newcastle have not beaten City away from home in the Premier League since 2000.
The 3-2 defeat to Real is only the third City have suffered across all competitions at home this season and they can’t afford another one here, especially against a direct rival for Champions League qualification. Another concern is injuries – Jack Grealish and Manuel Akanji both picked up knocks against Madrid and neither make the squad this afternoon.
The Magpies are on a high after comfortably dispatching of Arsenal over two legs to set up a Carabao Cup final against Liverpool next month.
