Manchester United has confirmed that club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy has departed his role as interim head coach after rejoining this summer. Van Nistelrooy led the team in four matches during his short tenure, with United expressing gratitude for his contributions and commitment.
Manchester United has announced that Ruud van Nistelrooy, a club legend, has stepped down from his position as interim head coach. Van Nistelrooy rejoined United this summer and led the men’s first team in the past four matches, during a transitional phase for the club.
In a statement on the club’s official portal, Manchester United expressed deep gratitude for van Nistelrooy’s contributions and dedication during his time on the coaching staff. “Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend. We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford,” the club wrote, underscoring the strong relationship between United and one of its most celebrated former players.

The club also confirmed the departures of coaching staff members Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel, all of whom worked alongside van Nistelrooy during his brief tenure. Manchester United extended best wishes to each of them for the future.
The club has yet to confirm the full composition of the men’s first team coaching staff moving forward following the appointment of Ruben Amorin to replace Erik Ten Hag.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim spell rekindled memories of his impactful playing career, during which he became one of the most prolific scorers in the Premier League, endearing himself to United fans worldwide. His contributions as interim head coach further cement his legacy at the club, ensuring he will always be warmly received at Old Trafford.
