Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has backed Marcus Rashford to rediscover his best form, admitting nobody at the club is “happy” about his current form.
Rashford was the star of Ten Hag’s debut season as he fired home 30 goals in all competitions – form which saw him awarded an enormous new contract – but he has not maintained that level and has started the current campaign with just a solitary goal in 15 appearances so far.
To make matters worse for Rashford, he was shown a straight red card which inspired United’s Champions League collapse against Copenhagen – just the second time in his senior career he has ever been sent off.
Despite his struggles, Rashford still secured a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for November’s international break, with the Three Lions boss doing his best to distance himself from Rashford’s challenges at club level.
Ten Hag, however, did not shy away from acknowledging Rashford’s poor form as he backed the 26-year-old to work through his problems soon enough.

“I think he’s not happy, we’re not happy,” Ten Hag said when asked about Rashford’s form. “He has high expectations for himself and, of course, in this moment he is not in his best form but I know he will be back.
“I know when the team is playing better, he will play better, score goals, I am confident on that. Also this season, he will improve, he will score goals, he is totally in the team, he is totally aware of everything.
“[Improved form] can happen very quickly, sometimes you only need one game, and I am sure he will get there.”
United are back in action against Luton Town on Saturday before Rashford jets off for a change of scenery with England, who take on Malta and North Macedonia as they wrap up their Euro 2024 qualification campaign.
