Erik ten Hag has been keeping a keen eye on developments at Euro 2024 and England’s semi-final fin victory over the Netherlands on Wednesday evening has turned attention back to club football.
United announced the return of Ruud van Nistelrooy as Ten Hag’s new assistant on Thursday, with Rene Hake also joining and a cohort of Dutch players on the verge of making a move.
The reigning FA Cup champions are looking like early-movers in the market with Zirkzee having his medical at the club on Friday ahead of an impending transfer from Italian side Bologna.
Xavi Simons could now also be set to join United this summer as the Premier League club continue to show strong interest in the talented forward, as reported by The Sun.

The Dutchman scored the opening goal in Wednesday’s Euro 2024 semi-final clash against England with a powerful finish from the edge of the box before Harry Kane equalised minutes later.
England went on to win the match and progress to a second consecutive European Championship final and first-ever on foreign soil, while Simons and the Netherlands crashed out.
Simons’ attention now returns to club football as he and PSG prepare to discuss his future at the club while United and a number of other European clubs circle.
PSG are yet to decide on the future of multiple first-team players following Kylian Mbappe’s departure for Real Madrid following the expiration of his contract.
The club haven’t yet decided on whether they want to sell Simons, but if they do then won’t be short of suitors, with many keen on the young attacking talent.
The 21-year-old is keen to gain consistent minutes in top-level football and could be handed that opportunity with a move to Old Trafford where he would join up with Erik ten Hag.
United’s Dutch manager looks keen to continue his trend of recruiting players from his own country with talks also ongoing over transfers for Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs De Ligt.
Simons would represent another similar addition as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS continue to take hold of transfers at the club in a bid to strengthen Ten Hag’s squad.
United could attempt to first negotiate a loan for the winger that would likely include an obligation to buy at the end of the temporary spell.
A hefty sell-on clause will also be given to Simons’ former club PSV Eindhoven after he left to move to Paris in a £5m move only last summer.
The Ligue 1 champions are in a strong negotiating position and will demand a fee in the region of £70m for a player who is showing promising signs of development.

Why all the complains about signing Dutch players? At one point we had French players Martial, Pogba, Varane and no one talked, we had Brazil Fred, Casemiro, Antony, and no one talked, We had Portuguese Bruno, CR7, Dalot no one talked.. Now we are about to (not yet) have 3 Dutch join up and y’all are blabbing and reality check is that these incoming players are good, will help the team and coming for decent fees compared to other country’s… Everton wants 70M for an unproven Branthwait cos he’s English, why not get a proven De ligt for 40M, Xavi is likely coming on loan to provide back up/support to Bruno (he’s the only AMF we have), and Zirkzee will help in ST or RWF.. So guys relax, for once see our recruitment team doing due diligence on player signings.
