
Netflix Set to Release Documentary About Legendary Scorpions Bassist in 2025
In a move that is sure to delight fans of the iconic rock band Scorpions, Netflix has announced that it will be releasing a documentary about the band’s legendary bassist, Francis Buchholz, in 2025. The documentary, which has been in production for several years, promises to offer a unique and intimate look at the life and career of one of rock music’s most beloved and respected bassists.
“We are happy to announce that we are done with production and it will be released on February 14, 2025,” said a spokesperson for Netflix. “The documentary is a must-see for fans of the Scorpions and rock music in general. It’s a fascinating look at the life and career of Francis Buchholz, and it features interviews with many of the people who know him best, including his former bandmates and fellow musicians.”
The documentary, which is titled “The Sting of Francis Buchholz,” was directed by renowned filmmaker, Martin Weiß, who has previously worked on documentaries about other iconic rock bands, including Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.
“I’ve always been a huge fan of the Scorpions, and Francis Buchholz is one of my all-time favorite bassists,” said Weiß. “When I was approached by Netflix to make a documentary about Francis, I jumped at the chance. It’s been an incredible experience, and I think the finished product is something that fans of the Scorpions and rock music will love.”
The documentary features interviews with many of the people who know Francis Buchholz best, including his former Scorpions bandmates, Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker, and Matthias Jabs. It also includes interviews with other notable musicians, such as Metallica’s Lars Ulrich and Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister (in one of his final interviews before his passing).
In addition to the interviews, the documentary also features rare and previously unseen footage of the Scorpions in the studio and on the road, as well as footage of Francis Buchholz’s early days as a musician.
