Ohio State Quarterback Will Howard Meets with Reporters, Discusses Buckeyes’ Victory over Oregon
Ohio State quarterback Will Howard met with reporters on Wednesday, just days after the Buckeyes’ dominant 41-21 victory over the Oregon Ducks in the Rose Bowl. Howard was eager to discuss the team’s performance, particularly the standout play of wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, and the successful passing attack that has become a hallmark of the Ohio State offense.
When asked about the team’s overall performance, Howard was quick to praise his teammates and coaches. “I thought we played a great game, from start to finish,” he said. “Our offense was clicking, our defense was stout, and our special teams made some big plays. It was a total team effort, and I’m proud of everyone for stepping up and making plays.”
One of the biggest stories of the game was the emergence of Jeremiah Smith, who hauled in 7 catches for 182 yards and 2 touchdowns. Howard was effusive in his praise of the young receiver, saying, “Jeremiah is a talented player, and he’s been working hard all season to get to this point. He made some big plays for us, and I’m so happy to see him have success. He’s a great teammate, and I’m lucky to have him on the field with me.”
The Buckeyes’ passing attack has been one of the most potent in the country all season, and Howard has been the catalyst for much of that success. When asked about the team’s passing game, he said, “I think we’ve got a great system in place, and our coaches do a great job of putting us in position to make plays. We’ve got a talented group of receivers, and our line has been doing a great job of protecting me. It’s a team effort, and I’m just happy to be a part of it.”
Howard was also asked about the team’s preparation for the game, and how they were able to exploit some of the weaknesses in the Oregon defense. “We studied a lot of film, and our coaches did a great job of identifying some areas where we could attack,” he said. “We worked on some specific plays and schemes in practice, and it paid off on game day. Our guys did a great job of executing, and we were able to make some big plays as a result.”
As the Buckeyes prepare to face the Texas Longhorns in the College Football Playoff semifinals, Howard was asked about the team’s mindset and focus. “We’re excited for the challenge,” he said. “We know that Texas is a talented team, and we’ll have to be at our best to come out on top. We’re going to prepare hard, and we’re going to be ready to go. We’re looking forward to it.”
When asked about the team’s goals and expectations for the remainder of the season, Howard was clear. “We want to win a national championship,” he said. “That’s been our goal all season, and we’re one step closer to achieving it. We’re going to take it one game at a time, and we’re going to do everything we can to come out on top.”
Overall, Howard’s press conference was a testament to his leadership and poise. He answered questions with confidence and humility, and he was quick to praise his teammates and coaches. As the Buckeyes prepare to face the Longhorns, they’ll be looking to Howard to lead the way.
