CHANCE! Newcastle 0-1 Brighton

By Harry Bamforth

It’s all Newcastle so far in this second half and St James’ Park is rocking.

Alexander Isak spots Anthony Gordon in the box but the winger can’t guide his effort on target.

He should score…

‘Top stuff’

By Nathan Salt At Old Trafford

It’s been a very quiet game up until this point by Marcus Rashford but Erik ten Hag persists with him for moments of quality such as that ball just a moment ago to Alejandro Garnacho. That is top, top, top stuff.

United just need to see that on a more consistent basis and they wouldn’t be in the mess they are. Good noise in here now after Garnacho’s equaliser.

Goal:Man United 1-1 Brentford (Garnacho 47′)

Now that’s how you respond!

Just when Erik ten Hag needed a hero, Alejandro Garnacho comes up trumps for him.

He volleys the ball via the near post after being picked out by Marcus Rashford.

Game on!

Ipswich fans will be hopping that it never got underway, their team is having a nightmare.

Everton, though, are dreaming.

‘De Ligt booted a water bottle’

By Nathan Salt At Old Trafford

Matthijs de Ligt booted a water bottle at the side of the pitch in frustration and now Ruud van Nistelrooy and United’s coaches are going crazy at fourth official Gavin Ward. United conceded a corner when down to 10 men.

When it bleeds it pours

By Harry Bamforth

What a dramatic end to the half at Old Trafford.

I think this photo should be enough for you all to understand why Matthijs de Ligt can’t be annoyed.

If he comes out for the second half, I will be stunned.

De Ligt had to come off three times in his half to get his head sorted due to all the blood. It wouldn’t stop.

In the end, United are paying for the decision to keep him on.

Goal:Ipswich 0-2 Everton (Keane 40′)

By Harry Bamforth

Michael Keane doubles Everton’s lead!

I thought Keane was meant to be a defender but he has just slammed the ball home like a striker in their prime.

The ball comes his way at a tight angle following a corner and he smashes it into the roof of the net.

A brilliant goal.

United fury

By Harry Bamforth

I really don’t understand why Manchester United are so furious.

Erik ten Hag has been booked for his protests and Matthijs de Ligt is shaking his head.

The fact he even lasted that long on the pitch is crazy, he should have been hooked due to the injury anyway.

Ten hag should be angrier at the defending from the corner because that was woeful.

United’s problems continue.

HALF-TIME: Man United 0-1 Brentford

By Harry Bamforth

Boos ring around Old Trafford as the whistle goes.

They feel aggrieved that Matthijs de Ligt was not allowed on the pitch to defend the corner that led to the Brentford goal.

It’s the law, though. His head was bleeding, he needed to get it sorted again.

United only have themselves to blame.

Goal:Man United 0-1 Brentford (Pinnock 45+5′)

By Harry Bamforth

What a header that is!

Ethan Pinnock is alone in the area from a corner and my word he thunders the all into the back of the net.

Manchester United are moaning as Matthijs de Ligt was off the pitch due to blood pouring from his head.

But their complaints don’t matter, they are behind yet again.

HALF-TIME: Fulham 1-1 Aston Villa

By Harry Bamforth

How there have only been two goals in this one, I do not know.

It’s been a cracker at Craven Cottage and the teams go in for the interval level.

It could have been so different if it wasn’t for Emi Martinez.

HALF-TIME: Southampton 2-0 Leicester

Southampton are in dreamland and they leave at the break.

VAR: NO PENALTY!

By Harry Bamforth

I mean, I called it, didn’t I?

Michael Oliver agrees with me and the penalty has been rescinded, there will be a dropball instead.

That’s the right call.

15:44

VAR CHECKING PENALTY

By Harry Bamforth

I’m right, VAR are taking a look at this one.

Michael Oliver has been sent to the screen and surely he will overturn this.

I will be shocked if he doesn’t, I really will.

15:44

PENALTY TO IPSWICH!

By Harry Bamforth

Ooooh… this is a contentious one!

Ipswich have been given a penalty by Michael Oliver but I’m really not sure about this one.

Jack Clarke goes down under the challenge of Dwight McNeil, but it actually looks like he kicks the back of his leg.

Surely VAR will get involved.

Man United 0-0 Brentford

By Harry Bamforth

Manchester United are starting to take control now, they have found their feet.

Now Rasmus Hojlund finds himself bearing down on goal but he makes a meal of his strike and it comes to nothing.

A goal is brewing, though… I can feel it.

BIG MISS! Man United 0-0 Brentford

By Harry Bamforth

Oh my word, how are Manchester United not ahead?

Christian Eriksen is in, I started preparing a goal post, but he blazes the ball over the bar.

He can’t believe it, the fans can’t believe it, and neither can I.

That’s a huge chance that has gone begging.

Goal:Newcastle 0-1 Brighton (Welbeck 35′)

By Harry Bamforth

Danny Welbeck has done it again!

It comes against the run of play, but what a brilliant goal that is from the veteran.

He plays a lovely give-and-go and then races through to slide past Nick Pope.

Lovely, lovely footie.

Goal:Ipswich 0-1 Everton (Ndiaye 17′)

By Harry Bamforth

Wes Burns, what are you doing?

The Ipswich wing-back makes a meal of a clearance in the box and Iliman Ndiaye poaches the ball off him.

The Everton man then unleashes on hell of a strike into the top right-hand corner to give Everton the lead.

Terrible defending but a brilliant finish.

BIG SAVE! Man United 0-0 Brentford

By Harry Bamforth

Andre Onana to the rescue for Manchester United.

Brentford are playing the hosts off the park here and Christian Norgaard decides he fancies an attempt at scoring a screamer.

He nearly pulls it off but Onan does brilliantly well to deny him at full stretch.

The Bees are well on top.

Goal:Southampton 2-0 Leicester (Aribo 27′)

By Harry Bamforth

Southampton’s day just gets better and better.

Kyle Waker-Peters wreaks havoc down the left again, pulls the ball back for Joe Aribo, and he makes no mistake.

It is almost a carbon copy of the opener.

‘Plenty more goals in this one’

By Aadam Patel At Craven Cottage

Half an hour in and this is an absolutely riveting clash. There’s a basketball feel about it with how end-to-end the game is. Feels like there are plenty more goals in this one.

15:27

PENALTY SAVED! – Fulham

By Harry Bamforth

Emi Martinez does what he does best!

Andreas Pereira takes a deep breath, stutters, and then fires the ball low toward the bottom right-hand corner.

But Martinez guesses right and holds onto the ball. You just always back him in those scenarios.

15:26

PENALTY TO FULHAM!

By Harry Bamforth

Oooooh, Fulham have the chance to re-take the lead!

The ball hits the outstretched hands of Matty cash but initially, shouts are waved away.

After a VAR check, though, the referee points to the spot. The right decision in my book.

‘Balloons it over’

By Henry Clark At Portman Road Stadium

Oh Jack Clarke what a miss! Picked out by Wes Burns in the box after a slick counter-attack, the ball just clips Clarke’s standing foot, and his shot balloons over.

15:25

WHAT A MISS! Ipswich 0-0 Everton

By Harry Bamforth

How has Jack Clarke missed that?

The ball bounces in his path and the least he can do it get it on target, but he can’t manage it.

He leans black and blasts the ball closer to the roof of the stadium than the net.

Clarke really should score…

OFF THE LINE! Man United 0-0 Brentford

By Harry Bamforth

Mayhem at Old Trafford!

Somehow the hosts are not in front after a goal-line scramble ends with the ball being flicked away by Mark Flekken.

The ball bounced off Rasmus Hojlund on its way to the line but he couldn’t get it over it.

‘Frank super intense’

By Nathan Salt At Old Trafford

Watching Thomas Frank is fascinating. This is, whether he wants it to be or not, an audition having emerged as one of the leading contenders should Ineos elect to sack Erik ten Hag. He’s super intense even with his side on top.

He’s just had a long conversation with midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard about something he didn’t like. Just now he slapped his hands together in frustration at a misplaced pass. Stark contrast to the typically stoic Erik ten Hag we see here week in, week out.

‘Match there to be won for Newcastle’

By Craig Hope At St James’ Park

On the evidence so far, this is a match very much there to be won for Newcastle. Front-foot start, getting in behind Brighton full-backs and looking energised.

15:19

Man United 0-0 Brentford

By Harry Bamforth

Matthijs de Ligt is a warrior.

He may have had blood pouring from his head but that does not stop the centre-back getting back onto the pitch.

Let’s hope that’s not a silly decision.

CHANCE! Newcastle 0-0 Brighton

By Harry Bamforth

Brighton are all over the place, but Alexander Isak can’t capitalise.

The ball comes his way but he can’t get decent contact on the ball and the chance goes begging.

He should do better.

‘Villa don’t deserve it’

This does not look good…

Matthijs de Ligt is holding his head after taking a knee from Kevin Schade.

It was accidental by the German, but it’s done some damage and it’s hard to see the centre-back continuing.

Victor Lindelof is getting ready on the touchline.
