Red Sox 2024 Season Review: Evaluating Our Predictions
Boston, MA – The 2024 Boston Red Sox season has come to a close, and it’s time to evaluate our preseason predictions. In early January, we made 24 predictions for the Red Sox season, ranging from player performances to team milestones. Now, we’re taking a look at which predictions came true and which ones didn’t quite pan out.
“We were pleased with some of our predictions, but also learned from the ones that didn’t quite work out,” said our sports editor. “It’s always a challenge to predict the outcome of a baseball season, but we’re committed to providing the best coverage and analysis for Red Sox fans.”
One of our correct predictions was the extension of pitcher Brayan Bello. We predicted that the Red Sox would sign Bello to a multi-year deal, and that’s exactly what happened. Bello inked a contract extension with the team, solidifying his spot in the rotation.
Another correct prediction was the strong season from outfielder Masataka Yoshida. We predicted that Yoshida would have a breakout year, and he did just that. Despite some injuries, Yoshida put up impressive numbers and established himself as a key player in the Red Sox lineup.
However, not all of our predictions came true. We predicted that Alex Cora’s time as Red Sox manager would come to an end in 2024, but that didn’t happen. Cora remained at the helm and led the team to a respectable finish.
We also predicted that the Red Sox would trade Rafael Devers, but that didn’t happen. Devers remained with the team and continued to be a key player in the lineup.
“Our predictions are always based on the best information available at the time,” said our sports editor. “But we also know that the baseball season is full of surprises, and things don’t always work out as planned.”
The Red Sox finished the 2024 season with a record of 83-79, which was close to our predicted win-loss record of 85-77. The team’s starting rotation was a strength, led by strong performances from Bello, Chris Sale, and Nick Pivetta.
However, the bullpen was a weakness for the team, particularly in the early part of the season. We predicted that the bullpen would struggle, and unfortunately, that prediction came true.
As the Red Sox look to the 2025 season, they’ll be looking to build on the positives from 2024 and address the areas that need improvement. We’ll be here to provide coverage and analysis every step of the way.
