“He is a Chelsea player, absolutely,” said Pep Guardiola about Raheem Sterling last Friday.

 

 

Chelsea have made Sterling surplus to requirements and Guardiola poured cold water over the possibility of Manchester City re-signing the winger at his press conference.

 

 

“So I just wish him all the best. If you ask me this question when Gundo was in Barcelona, the answer: the same,” Guardiola added. City will not re-sign Sterling but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that he returns to Manchester, this time making a move to Old Trafford.

 

It must be stressed the chances of Sterling making a sensational move to Manchester United are slim, however, stranger things have happened and shocking transfers can happen.

Sterling could move to United in a swap deal for Jadon Sancho, but Juventus are currently frontrunners to sign the 24-year-old and talks would have to collapse for that move to spark.

 

It’s understood Sterling would be open to a move to United if Juventus fail to progress with a deal for Sancho and several dominos would have to fall perfectly for that to materialise.
