Texas Longhorns Announce Ambitious $12.6 Million Renovation of Red and Charline McCombs Field, Poised to Transform It into a Premier Softball Venue
The University of Texas Longhorns have unveiled plans for a comprehensive $12.6 million renovation of their softball home, Red and Charline McCombs Field, aiming to elevate it into one of the nation’s premier collegiate softball venues. This ambitious project is set to commence in October 2025 and is expected to significantly enhance the facilities available to the Texas softball program.
A Vision for Excellence
The renovation project is designed to provide additional programmatic space for softball student-athletes and athletics staff. Key features of the upgrade include the replacement of the player development facility and pitching lab, as well as the addition of a new two-level structure housing team locker rooms, a lounge, meeting rooms, and offices. Furthermore, the north section of the stadium’s interior concourse will undergo renovations to improve training areas, high-density storage, and supporting spaces. Other enhancements will include updates to the lobby, recruiting area, dugout extension, and bullpen.
