Texas Longhorns Running Back Jaydon Blue Declares for NFL Draft
In a move that has sent shockwaves throughout the college football world, Texas Longhorns running back Jaydon Blue has announced that he will be forgoing his final two years of eligibility to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Blue, a talented and explosive running back, has been a key contributor to the Longhorns’ offense over the past two seasons. In his sophomore season, Blue rushed for 867 yards and 7 touchdowns, while also catching 22 passes for 161 yards and 1 touchdown.
The decision to declare for the NFL Draft is a significant one for Blue, who will be giving up his final two years of eligibility to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL. However, it’s clear that Blue feels he is ready for the next level, and that he has the talent and ability to make an immediate impact in the NFL.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to have played for the University of Texas,” Blue said in a statement. “However, I feel that I’m ready to take the next step in my career and pursue my dream of playing in the NFL. I’m excited to see what the future holds and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to compete against the best of the best.”
The loss of Blue will be a significant blow to the Longhorns’ offense, which will now have to find a way to replace his production and talent. However, the program has a talented young core of running backs, including Jonathan Brooks and Billy Bowman, who will be looking to step up and fill the void left by Blue’s departure.
“Jaydon Blue is an exceptional talent and we’re going to miss him,” said Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian. “However, we’re also excited to see what the future holds for him and we’re confident that he’ll go on to do great things in the NFL. We’ll have to find a way to replace his production, but we’re confident that we have the talent and depth to do so.”
Blue’s decision to declare for the NFL Draft is the latest in a long line of talented players to leave college early to pursue their dreams of playing in the NFL. While it’s always difficult to see talented players leave, it’s also a testament to the level of talent and competition in college football.
As Blue prepares to take the next step in his career, he’ll be looking to make a strong impression on NFL scouts and coaches. With his talent, ability, and work ethic, there’s no doubt that he’ll be a highly sought-after prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft.
