The Red Sox Might Have a Better Rotation Than the Yankees, But You Won’t Hear Anyone Talking About It

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are two of the most storied franchises in Major League Baseball, with a long and storied history of competition on and off the field. One area where the Red Sox may have an advantage over their arch-rivals is in their starting rotation. However, despite this potential edge, you won’t hear many people talking about it.

The Red Sox rotation is led by ace Chris Sale, who is coming off a dominant season in which he posted a 2.92 ERA and struck out over 200 batters. Sale is one of the most feared pitchers in the game, and his presence at the top of the rotation gives the Red Sox a significant advantage.

Behind Sale, the Red Sox have a deep and talented group of starters, including Nathan Eovaldi, Tanner Houck, and Garrett Whitlock. Eovaldi is a veteran right-hander who has been one of the most consistent pitchers in the American League over the past few seasons, while Houck and Whitlock are two of the most promising young pitchers in the game.

Houck, in particular, has been impressive in his limited time in the majors, posting a 2.45 ERA and striking out over 100 batters in just over 100 innings pitched. Whitlock, meanwhile, has been dominant out of the bullpen, but has also shown the ability to start and could potentially fill a rotation spot.

The Yankees, on the other hand, have a rotation that is led by Gerrit Cole, who is one of the highest-paid pitchers in the game. However, behind Cole, the Yankees have a number of question marks. Jameson Taillon is a talented right-hander, but has struggled with injuries throughout his career. Jordan Montgomery is a solid mid-rotation starter, but is not a true ace.

The Yankees also have a number of young pitchers, including Deivi Garcia and Clarke Schmidt, who have shown promise but are still unproven at the major league level. While the Yankees have a deep farm system, their rotation is not as deep or talented as the Red Sox.

Despite this, you won’t hear many people talking about the Red Sox rotation being better than the Yankees. Part of this is due to the fact that the Yankees have a much larger media market and tend to get more attention from national media outlets. Additionally, the Yankees have a number of high-profile players, including Cole and Aaron Judge, who tend to dominate the headlines.

However, another reason why the Red Sox rotation may be flying under the radar is that the team has been relatively quiet this offseason. While the Yankees have made a number of big splashes, including signing Cole to a massive contract extension, the Red Sox have been more subdued. This lack of activity has led to a perception that the Red Sox are not as competitive as the Yankees, which is not necessarily true.

In reality, the Red Sox have a deep and talented roster, and their rotation is one of the best in the American League. While they may not have the same level of star power as the Yankees, they have a number of solid players who can contribute to a winning team.

As the season gets underway, it will be interesting to see how the Red Sox rotation performs. If they can stay healthy and pitch to their potential, they could be a major factor in the American League East. And while they may not get the same level of attention as the Yankees, they could ultimately prove to be the better team.
