Manchester United are at Goodison Park this afternoon to face an Everton team firmly on the up under David Moyes. The returning manager has won four of his seven games since returning as manager, which matches his counterpart Ruben Amorim’s tally. United have lost three of his last four Premier League games to fall behind the Toffees in the table.
Relegation was a real concern for Everton just a month ago but they are now 13 points clear of the bottom three and looking up the table. United know only a remarkable set of results will put them in genuine peril of the drop, but the fact they are in this situation heading into March is startling in itself. The last time United finished below Everton was 11 years ago.
But Amorim has been boosted by the return to fitness of three key players, with Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro and Christian Eriksen all available after missing the loss to Tottenham last time out. United will again be reluctantly looking to Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee for goals, neither of which has scored in the league since December.
Still, United – despite their struggles seemingly anywhere else – hold a good record against Everton and at Goodison Park. They’ve lost just twice to the Toffees in 10 years and have not conceded a single goal to Everton in over two years. You can follow the game LIVE below with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog!

The teams should be emerging shortly. Not long to go now.

You do start to worry about Amorim should he lose again today. He has shown very little in the three month he has been in the job that he has the tools to turn things around.
Moyes entered Everton in a far worse state and has worked wonders in weeks.

Ruben Amorim on his Man Utd start
“If you said to me at the beginning that I would only win four matches in 14, I wouldn’t believe you.
“I was expecting hard days, but not like this … I’m doing everything I know, and we’re still losing.”

Manchester United have won their last six on the spin against Everton, across all competitions.
They also won 4-0 at Old Trafford earlier this season.

David Moyes on his Everton start
“It’s gone much better than expected. When I came in I went, ‘my goodness. I don’t want to be the manager who took Everton down’
“And that’s the pressure as a manager. And especially when you’ve been here for so long and, you know, done other good things over the years, you don’t want to waste it.
“But, we’re we’re not safe yet. We’re telling the players that, but I have to say that they’ve they’ve done brilliantly. The results have had have been great.”

A tough one for Garnacho
Garnacho can feel hard done by to be dropped. Yes, he was guilty of a number of missed chances against Tottenham but was also one of the most lively.
Being dropped when the likes of woeful pair Hojlund and Zirkzee keep getting chances must be a tough pill to swallow.
