Antony, Garnacho have shone

Antony might not ever live up to his £86million transfer fee but that trivela cross for Garnacho’s second goal might take £5million off the price tag.

It’s been a good game for the Brazilian winger, who has had the better of Cucurella all night.

Garnacho has been superb too, dragging his side up the field whenever possible.

Just wow! Garnacho heads in a curling ball from Anthony, and then he goes to sit down in front of 3,000 fans who are going crazy.

How Garnacho put United ahead

68′ Chelsea 2-3 Manchester United

Chelsea only have themselves to blame. Once AGAIN, it’s a silly defensive mistake. Centre back Benoit Badiashile mis-controlled it, giving it away, and Marcus Rashford played it down the right wing to Antony with Marc Cucurella chasing in vain.

Antony, fair play to him, pulled off an incredible trivela outside-of-the-foot pass across the penalty area, perfectly weighted for Alejandro Garnacho.

Garnacho waited, Djordje Petrovic needlessly came off his line, and the talented teenager bravely nodded it past Petrovic and into the net past Disasi’s desperate slide tackle.

The United fans behind the goal exploded with delight. Incredible counter, incredible pass, nice finish. What a turnaround.

GOOOOAAAALL! Manchester United have turned it around!

67′ Chelsea 2-3 Manchester United

What a comeback! Alejandro Garnacho has his second and United lead for the first time tonight!

Double sub for United

66′ Chelsea 2-2 Manchester United

And Erik ten Hag makes a double change.

Jonny Evans, himself a half-time substitute, has picked up a knock and trudges off for youngster Willy Kambwala.

Marcus Rashford replaces Hojlund up front.

Nice run from Antony

64′ Chelsea 2-2 Manchester United

It’s a good dribble from Antony there. He takes on opposite man Marc Cucurella for pace, beats him around the outside and bursts into the box.

Cucurella is leaning on him and he could go down, but doesn’t, holding off the Spaniard. He then pokes it across the box but Hojlund was waiting further back! Hojlund has to gamble on the cross there rather than expecting it on the penalty spot.

Wan-Bissaka down injured

60′ Chelsea 2-2 Manchester United

Around the hour mark and there’s a pause in play as from the resulting corner, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Axel Disasi clash heads.

Wan-Bissaka comes off worst and is down, clearly in pain and possibly concussed.

They send him back on with some Vaseline on his head and he plays on. Not sure the ‘head injury response’ there is entirely appropriate.

Ten Hag appears to be about to make his second substitution.

Defender Willy Kambwala looked like he was preparing to come on too.

Onana fine save from Palmer

58′ Chelsea 2-2 Manchester United

Chelsea attack this time and Cole Palmer lets fly from the edge of the box.

His dipping, swerving effort was fairly central and Andre Onana was able to tip it over well.

A yard or so either side and I reckon he’d have tested Onana more…

The chaos continues in the second half. Both teams going all-out attack, both coaches having words with each other. Not one for the coaching manuals, but I love it!

Disasi from villain to hero

56′ Chelsea 2-2 Manchester United

Really poor from Chelsea again. Axel Disasi with an awful slack pass gives it to Rasmus Hojlund, similar to the circumstances for Garnacho’s goal.

But as Hojlund raced through, Disasi got back and blocked the shot with a fine sliding tackle.

He celebrates as if he’s scored a goal. Calm it down mate, it only got there because you gave it away!

Ten Hag is talking to Garnacho, making a squeezing gesture with his hands.

The forward responds with a shrug and a nod. He has a hard job covering much space, but understands how necessary it is.

What a miss from Fernandes!

54′ Chelsea 2-2 Manchester United

A silly, silly game.

United break swiftly after a Chelsea set piece, Bruno finds Hojlund and suddenly it’s four-on-two.

Played back to Fernandes… but the ball bobbles and he lashes it well over. Decent chance.

The United fans groan in frustration.

Swiss cheese midfield

Central midfield is more of a casual suggestion, rather than tactical requirement at this point.

Both sides can go from defending their own box to attacking the other within a few passes in minimal time.

Super block from Evans!

51′ Chelsea 2-2 Manchester United

This game is wild. Both teams’ midfields are almost non-existent and both are attacking at will.

Chelsea broke again via a galloping Enzo, he found Palmer, who played it back to Fernandez.

The World Cup winner shot hard and low, and possibly goal-bound, but it was well blocked by a sliding Evans.

Evans enters for his 150th appearance

49′ Chelsea 2-2 Manchester United

It’s Jonny Evans’ first appearance in almost a month since playing against Everton on March 9.

Today marks his 150th match for Manchester United.

Decent milestone, that.

Manchester United want a penalty!

Manchester United want a penalty!

47′ Chelsea 2-2 Manchester United

Moments into the second half, Manchester United are screaming for a penalty.

Bruno Fernandes shot, blocked by Badiashile, VAR checks and no penalty. Replays show it hit his shoulder.

Then Harry Maguire raced down the left side of the Chelsea box but his scooped effort whistled narrowly over the bar.

Comedy football

That first half was comedy football. Manchester United were so poor in 50-50 tackles, almost absent-minded, failing to make easy passes.

They then snapped into some kind of life, aided by Chelsea. A great finish by Garnacho and a good move for Fernandes’s headed equaliser.

Palmer and Gallagher are ready to pounce on mistakes, though. This could end with any score!
