Van der Sar, a former goalkeeper for teams including Ajax and the aforementioned United, as well as the Dutch national team, had been a member of the board of the Amsterdam club since late 2012 and director general since 2016. His contract ran until mid-2025. (Twitter)

“On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain. Heā€™s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition,” former club Ajax said.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, who recently left his role as Ajax chief executive, is in intensive care after suffering bleeding around his brain, the Dutch club said on Friday, adding that he is currently in a stable condition.

 

ā€œOn Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain. Heā€™s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition.
