Saha wants Man Utd to sign Benzema
Slammed the club for handling Hojlund’s situation poorly
United have only scored 22 Premier League goals
WHAT HAPPENED?
The former France international forward wants the Red Devils to sign his compatriot Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad as he feels the veteran striker would provide a massive boost to the beleaguered United side. He also called out the team management for being unable to provide enough support to Rasmus Hojlund in the attacking third, which has led to the striker’s goal drought in the Premier League in his maiden season.

WHAT SAHA SAID
Speaking to BettingOdds.com, Saha said: “He [Benzema] will shake up the United frontline and that’s what they need. He will definitely score goals and he will link up the play a lot better. It’s just a dream, but Karim is still a very professional guy, he’s the type of striker that Hojlund will learn from, but that’s just a fantasy.”
He added: “It’s the right club for him [Hojlund], but it’s unfair to give him the responsibility of the number nine position alone without an experienced player around him. You can have talented wingers or offensive midfielders, but being a striker is a different mentality. You need someone to show you runs in the box and I don’t think he can see them, the Premier League is a tough league for stuff like that. I played with [Ruud] Van Nistelrooy and [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer. I had the chance to look at those legends and learn my runs and skills from them.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Goalscoring has been a major problem for the Premier League giants this season as they have managed to find the back of the net on just 22 occasions in 20 matches. They are tied on goals scored with Crystal Palace, while only Burnley and Sheffield United scored less than Erik ten Hag’s side. Hojlund, who joined the club in the summer, scored his first league goal against Aston Villa on Christmas Eve.

WHAT NEXT FOR UNITED?
Ten Hag’s side, who have won just once in their last four Premier League games, will hope to begin 2024 on a positive note. Their first game of the year is favourable tie as they take on Wigan Athletic in an FA Cup clash on January 8.
