Fans of Liverpool and Manchester City might need to check their clocks after the Premier League confirmed their new kick-off time.

The two giants are due to go head-to-head on Sunday in a crucial clash that could go a long way to deciding the title race.

However, fans will have to tune into the clash at 3:45pm on Sunday March 10 in a shake-up to the fixture schedule.

Sunday afternoon fixtures are usually scheduled for 2pm or 4:30pm, however, the clash at Anfield will kick off at the unusual time, while Aston Villa vs Tottenham will start at 1pm earlier that day.

The clash between Liverpool and Man City could be historic with the potential for it to be the last chance Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola pit their wits against each other following the Liverpool boss’ decision to stand down this summer.

The reason for the newly-created kick-off time has been attributed to Merseyside Police.

It is understood the force wanted an earlier kick-off at Anfield due to fears over fan safety.

This comes following numerous problems between the two clubs’ supporters in recent seasons.

Some of those issues include damage to team buses, missiles thrown and cases of tragedy chanting.

An earlier kick-off time has been chosen to try and combat those problems and help the event run as smoothly as possible.

In the reverse fixture at the Etihad in November, the game started at 12:30pm due to similar concerns.

This will be the second weekend in a row that Man City have had a strange kick-off time.

They beat bitter rivals Manchester United 3-1 with the derby beginning at 3:30pm on Sunday with the first game of the day getting started at 1pm.

That was due to similar concerns over fan troubles and City will have to start earlier than usual once again this weekend.
