After a weekend in which Liverpool won and Manchester City did not, the Premier League title picture has changed somewhat. Jürgen Klopp’s side beat Brentford in the early kick-off before Pep Guardiola’s men could only draw with Chelsea.

This time next week, both Liverpool and Manchester City will have 26 league games, meaning that they will both have 12 left, including the clash at Anfield between them next month. The Reds face Luton Town on Wednesday and then no weekend fixture because of the Carabao Cup final while the Etihad side has Brentford at home on Tuesday and then Bournemouth away on Saturday.

With Liverpool currently having played a game more than Manchester City, the Reds are four points ahead in the standings. Arsenal, who like Liverpool has played 25 games, is two points off the top.

And according to the boffins at the Twenty First Group, Liverpool is now the mathematical favorite to win the title and send Klopp off on the biggest possible high. Manchester City was deemed the statistical leader prior to this weekend.

In the space of one matchweek, Manchester City’s chances of winning the title have reduced by 17 percentage points despite Rodri’s equalizer. Guardiola’s men now have a 37 per cent chance of finishing first, according to this particular dataset.

Liverpool’s chances have improved by 11 percentage points to 38 per cent. Arsenal, meanwhile, has been given a 25 per cent chance. Liverpool would finish on 87 points this season if it continues to pick up points at the same rate that it has to date, while Manchester City would be on 84 at its current rate.
