Casemiro has admitted that in comparison to Manchester City, Manchester United are “not in the best place” currently.

Having played one more Premier League game than second-placed City this season, United are 11 points adrift of them in eighth place.

While Pep Guardiola’s men are in contention to win the treble once again, Erik ten Hag’s side have crashed out of the Champions League and the Carabao Cup.

Casemiro says Manchester United are “not in the best place” in comparison to Manchester City

It also seems virtually impossible for the Red Devils to win the Premier League this season.

Barring the FA Cup, which United are still in contention to lift in the 2023/2024 campaign, it looks like they could endure yet another disappointing season.

Now, Casemiro has admitted that Manchester United are nowhere near a team like Manchester City, as things stand.

“It’s good that I’m now returning for the second half of the season”, he told CNN during an interview.

“The second half is the most important and I want to really enjoy it, to return and win with Manchester United. And to take us to the top of the table and, without a doubt, help my teammates as well. It’s a pleasure to play for United and it’s a big club. It’s not in the best place at this moment compared to other clubs like City and Liverpool.”

However, Casemiro firmly believes that Manchester United will always be a bigger club than other teams in English football, including Manchester City.

“However, United will always be the biggest club in England because of its history, magnitude and titles. It was always my challenge to help my teammates and Manchester United keep growing and of course, as we all want, return the club to being the best in the world.”

Casemiro is putting it lightly

In our view, Casemiro is understating the gulf in class between Manchester United and teams like Manchester City and Liverpool.

After enjoying a fruitful season during the 2022/2023 campaign, United are struggling to piece things together once again while Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp’s sides are competing for a league title.

While Manchester United won their first trophy in six years in the form of the Carabao Cup last season, Manchester City won their third league title in a row while also clinching a historic treble.

The red side of Manchester continues to experience lows while it seems like City will continue to taste the highest of highs as long as Pep Guardiola is in charge of their side.
