For the second season running, the FA Cup Final features a Manchester derby. After 141 years without one in the showpiece, we are treated to two back to back. City, fresh from winning the Premier League for the fourth season on the trot, are also looking to win successive domestic doubles, while United are hoping to rescue a miserable season.
Pep Guardiola & Co. have seen off the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle and Chelsea to reach Wembley, while United beat Liverpool and then Coventry City in the most dramatic and chaotic of fashion – a 121st-minute winner and a nail-biting penalty shootout – for another shot at the famous trophy. However, even a surprise victory for United may not save Erik ten Hag’s job.
The build-up to the game has been overshadowed by reports United will sack Ten Hag no matter the result today.
