City academy coach Jason Wilcox and club ambassador Mike Summerbee were among those who attended the funeral on Friday morning.

Wisten was part of the Manchester City academy until May 2019, and was found unresponsive at the family home in Wythenshawe.

On Friday morning, hundreds of people gathered outside the church to pay their respects.

Crowds fell silent as the cortege arrived, followed by Wisten’s family – some of his friends wore t-shirts or jumpers with a photo of him on and the words ‘Rest in Peace’, and ‘fly boy, flight high.’

A funeral wreath saying ‘Jeremy’ was next to the coffin, which was carried into the church by a group believed to be Wisten’s friends.

Onlookers waited outside as the ceremony took place, with family, friends and team-mates allowed to go into the church to pay their respects.

The teenager’s parents have said that money raised in a fundraiser set up in his memory will be donated to mental health charity Sporting Minds UK – there is also a separate fundraiser for the Wisten family, which has reached nearly £20,000 as of 4pm on Friday afternoon.
