Former Tottenham defender Anton Walkes has sadly passed away aged 25 after a tragic boat crash in America on Wednesday, January 18.

Walkes left Spurs in 2018 having come through the club’s academy and played over 50 times for the youth sides, making one senior appearance in 2016 as a substitute. He had spent time on loan in America with MLS club Atalanta, also joining Portsmouth before he eventually moved to Charlotte.

They released a statement following his death, saying: “Charlotte Football Club can confirm the tragic and heartbreaking news that defender Anton Walkes passed away early Thursday morning following an accident in South Florida. He was 25 years old.
