Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will answer questions from journalists at his pre-match press conference this afternoon.

United welcome Sevilla to Old Trafford in the first leg of the Europa League final on Thursday night and Ten Hag is due to speak on Wednesday at Carrington, with an update on the fitness of Marcus Rashford expected from the Dutchman.

Rashford was forced to be substituted with injury in the latter stages of United’s win against Everton at the weekend and Ten Hag, speaking after the 2-0 win, blamed the Premier League for their hectic scheduling of fixtures.

The forward has undergone a scan on the issue and Ten Hag will reveal the extent of the problem. He will also expand on the rest of the team news, look ahead to the challenge of Sevilla and discuss the Europa League.

United won the Carabao Cup in February and winning the Europa League would ensure a special season.

Ten Hag will be joined by David de Gea and the pair will speak at 12pm. We’ll bring you live updates throughout the press conference.

‘Chaos’ outside Carrington training ground

Emergency services were spotted outside United’s training ground in Carrington after a car rolled into a ditch.

The accident happened near to the entrance of the training complex this morning, the Mirror reports. United were due to train ahead of their Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla on Thursday, while manager Erik ten Hag was due to speak to the media.

But a reporter described the scene as ‘chaos’ outside the training ground after a car rolled down a bank. He said he could see ‘five police cars, an ambulance and four fire engines’ on the scene.

United without three players for Sevilla

Erik ten Hag is optimistic Marcus Rashford will make a swift return from his apparent groin injury.

United confirmed on the eve of Ten Hag’s pre-match press conference that Marcus Rashford is unavailable for “a few games” and he is a doubt for the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton on Sunday week.

Luke Shaw and Alejandro Garnacho are still unavailable for Manchester in their Europa League quarter-final first leg against Sevilla.

That’s a wrap

Thanks for following the coverage today.

We’ll bring you reaction shortly.

12:17STEVEN RAILSTON

Ten Hag on Rashford

“It’s a setback and he’s disappointed, but he’s not totally broke because he will return quickly. He’s started his rehab and that helps to get back soon.”

12:16STEVEN RAILSTON

Ten Hag on Antony

“Of course, we expect front-line players to be a threat but also have an effect in the final third. He has to work on that, but he’s a young player. He’s scored in big games and if you can do it in such games, you can do it in Premier League games. We have to win games together and that is my experience with him. He’s a fighter and he likes a challenge. When he plays, the team is winning and he’s still a very young player, he can kill opponents.”

12:14STEVEN RAILSTON

De Gea on this season

“We are playing really good football. We’ve already won one cup and we’re all enjoying it, the dressing room is close together and the players are giving their all in training and games. We are still in three competitions and we’re in the right way.”

12:13STEVEN RAILSTON

De Gea on clean sheet record

“It feels great. It means I’ve been here for a long time and doing well. Beating his record [Schmeichel] makes me so proud and now is the moment to keep clean sheets. When we do that, we’re close to winning big things.”

12:11STEVEN RAILSTON

Ten Hag on style

“We want to play dynamic and surprise opponents. Make it difficult to read our game. We defend with 11 and attack with 11. So we work on that every day and every game – we have to improve every game.”

12:11STEVEN RAILSTON

Ten Hag on Sabitzer

“He’s doing fantastic. He’s adjusted well to Man United and the Premier League. He is a great person and suits the dressing room well. He’s an intelligent player and we’re happy with his role at this moment.”

12:09STEVEN RAILSTON

Ten Hag on Maguire

“We saw on Saturday how good he [Maguire] is. He’s doing really well and he’s always in contention. I’m happy with how my team is defending, we defend with 11 and we have a great goalie who gives us so many clean sheets.”

12:08STEVEN RAILSTON

De Gea on criticism

“When we keep a clean sheet, that means the team and I did a good job. The criticism is always there, you cannot pleasure everyone, I always try my best. We’re doing a great job together.”

12:08STEVEN RAILSTON

Martial defence

“The time he needs for a goal is less. When he’s in the team, we play our best football and we have our best results as a team. I defend him because I point to the stats and see how he contributes.”

12:06STEVEN RAILSTON

Ten Hag on Eriksen

“I think the balance in the midfield was good with Casemiro, Eriksen and Bruno. Casemiro the balance player, the line up player, Eriksen can support him but also go to the final part of the game, can create chances with key passes. So yeah, a really important player and I think he had seven or eight assists in the league, which tells the story.”

12:05STEVEN RAILSTON

Martial again

“I think he is ready to start, but as I said, the front line did very well against Brentford and we picked the same against Everton. The advantage was we could bring Martial back slowly, giving him minutes, but I think already against Everton he was ready to start the game.”

12:04STEVEN RAILSTON

Ten Hag on Martial

“We don’t have to force things. We are careful. The front line against Everton worked really well.”

12:03STEVEN RAILSTON

Ten Hag on Garnacho and Shaw

“Both not available. Definitely the injury of Garnacho is more severe, but I expect Luke Shaw back on shorter notice.”

12:03KEY EVENT

Ten Hag on Rashford

“A few games, so that’s the statement. I can’t give more details on it because we don’t know. We’ll have to see it how it develops.”

Sabitzer on his future

Sabitzer has admitted his future beyond the summer might be out of his control.

“United made it clear that it was a project until the summer,” Sabitzer recently told BILD. “Then we’ll see. Until then, I want to give everything here. It’s a loan deal without an option. In the summer, the situation will be evaluated.

“But I can say that I found my place here. Now I know the Premier League and can say there’s nothing better, more intense and tougher. Every game is a fight. It’s the best league in the world. When you play once here you know it’s incomparable.

“Of course my thoughts are on United, especially with the trust I get from Erik ten Hag – it’s very positive. But I’m not the only one who decides.”

United give update on Rashford injury

Marcus Rashford will be unavailable for United’s match against Sevilla on Thursday with a muscle injury.

Rashford was forced to leave the pitch in the 80th minute of United’s win against Everton at the weekend. The player underwent scans on the problem and it has now been confirmed he is set to ‘miss a few games’ with a muscle injury.

The player appeared to hold his groin and he looked in visible discomfort before being substituted off against Everton, but the problem is not as bad as feared and he’s expected to recover from the injury for the season run-in.
