Man City’s PL charges hearing to be heard in November

Manchester City’s hearing over their 115 charges for alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules will be heard in November, according to The Times.

In February 2023, City were charged with the alleged breaches, which span a period from the 2009-10 season to the 2017-18 campaign.

The club are alleged to have breached league rules requiring provision “in utmost good faith” of “accurate financial information that gives a true and fair view of the club’s financial position”.

The Times also revealed on Tuesday that City are taking legal action against the Premier League in an attempt to end the Premier League’s Associated Party Transaction (ATP) rules.

The Premier League – which opened its investigation into City in March 2019 – has referred the alleged offences to an independent commission.

De Bruyne refuses to rule out Saudi move

Kevin De Bruyne is open to the idea of moving to Saudi Arabia at the end of his contract with Manchester City.

The Belgium playmaker has a year remaining on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium but admits he has already been discussing the future with his wife Michele.

A lucrative pay day in the latter stages of his career is appealing to the 32-year-old, who said in Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws: “For Michele, an exotic adventure is OK.

“These are also conversations that we are having more and more as a family. I still have one year of contract, so I have to think about what can happen.

“My eldest (child) is now eight years old and knows nothing but England. He also asks how long I will play at City. Once the time comes, we will have to deal with it in a certain way.

“At my age, you have to be open to everything. You talk about unbelievable amounts in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that.

“If I play there for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money.”

De Bruyne signed for City in summer 2015 and has won 15 major trophies.

“He also asks how long I will play for City. Once the moment comes, we will have to deal with it in a certain way.”

Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City chase Newcastle’s Guimaraes

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are keen to sign Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes this summer, according to Spanish outlet AS.

Newcastle are reported to be considering sanctioning a sale of one of their biggest assets to meet Profitability and Sustainability Rules this summer.

Guimaraes is said to have a release clause of around €115m (£98.1m), although the Magpies could accept a fee closer to €80m (£68.2m).

City met with Guimaraes’ representatives in January, while their interest in Lucas Paqueta, his Brazil team-mate, has waned due to his FA charge of alleged breaches of betting rules.

Arsenal are keen to upgrade on Jorginho and Thomas Partey at the base of their midfield, while Liverpool see Guimaraes as a potential marquee signing for Arne Slot, the new head coach.

The Norway striker has won successive Premier League titles since moving to Manchester in a £51 million deal from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022 and still has three years remaining on his contract.

But a clause in his agreement with City, allowing the player to move to any club outside England willing to pay £175m, kicked in this summer.

It ends a long-standing relationship with the club, with the defender joining at U15 level. She made her debut in the 2017/18 season, going on to make 87 appearances.

She also spent time on loan at Everton and has earned her senior England call-up while with Man City.

Saints to pay City £20m for Harwood-Bellis

Southampton’s promotion has triggered a £20m obligation clause to buy Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis as part of his season long loan arrangement.

Harwood-Bellis has now won promotion from the Championship two seasons in a row after his loan spell at Burnley last season.

He told Sky Sports: “It had a massive edge to it knowing I’m staying here permanently. I love the club, it’s special and the fans have been amazing. They stuck with us through the whole season, but we did it for them as well today… I can’t describe how I feel about this year, I can’t put it into words.”

Pep: My game plan vs United wasn’t good

Man City boss Pep Guardiola took the blame for Saturday’s FA Cup final defeat to Man Utd.

Guardiola’s side were beaten 2-1 at Wembley, with Jeremy Doku’s late goal unable to inspire a comeback.

“First of all congratulation to Man Utd,” he told his post-match press conference.

“My game plan wasn’t good. The second half was much better. We were more intense.

“The players know the reason why. Tactically it wasn’t good.

“You plan for a game and different positions, but it didn’t work.

“As always against United, we had control but like we did in the second-half, we couldn’t create.

“We are disappointed today. It’s normal when a team loses the final, but this season has been extraordinary.

“We have challenged for all the trophies in a good way. We now need to rest and come back.”

There was also praise for Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag, with Guardiola adding: “They have to take a decision [on Teg Hag’s future].

“I don’t know, but he is lovely person, an extraordinary manager, winning the FA Cup was important for them like it was for us last season.”

Ederson considers Saudi move

Man City superstar Ederson is reportedly considering a summer exit amid interest from Saudi Arabia, according to reports published in The Sun.

Fabrizio Romano claims several Saudi sides are interested in signing the goalkeeper for a hefty fee and the Brazil stopper is reportedly open to offers.

The 30-year-old suffered a small fracture to the eye one week ago after a collision with Tottenham defender Cristian Romero and was seen kicking a water bottle and crying after being forced off the pitch.

Ederson joined City in 2017 from Benfica for £35m and has since played 332 games for the club.

City’s No 2, Stefan Ortega, has proved more than capable of replacing Ederson between the sticks and made three crucial saves against Spurs to ensure his side maintained their title charge.

Walker hints at Man City stay

Kyle Walker has hinted that his immediate future is at Manchester City after captaining the club to a fourth straight title.

The 34-year-old lifted the Premier League trophy for Pep Guardiola’s side after a 3-1 win over West Ham sealed the title.

It could have been so different for the City captain, who was the subject of interest from Bayern Munich last summer.

“I feel young. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing,” Walker said after the game. “I feel great, I still feel like I have got my pace. I come to training every day so willing to learn.

“I think once that goes you know that it is probably time to pack up. But this group of lads keep you on your toes and keep you wanting to improve every day.

“Once you lose that desire, I have said this before, when you drive in thinking ‘I wanna turn back’ that is when you need to pack up. I don’t feel that. I love these lads. I am in debt to them every day.

“It (leaving) was close. I have said it publicly through different circumstances that it was close to happening but with this group of lads, the manager…when we had a talk and a sit down I didn’t want the journey to end.

“And I have been a part of this club and foundation now since 2017. From the moment I walked in to standing here now on this day, I relish going into training and that is the main thing.”
