Man City vs Man United: Match facts
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes could make his 150th Premier League appearance in this match. Though the Portuguese has created more chances than any other player in the competition this term (74), his rate of a goal or assist every 281 minutes this term is his lowest in any of his five campaigns.
Phil Foden has been involved in nine goals in his last 10 Premier League appearances for Manchester City, scoring five and assisting four. Overall he has 16 goal involvements this season (9 goals, 7 assists), his joint-most in a single league campaign.
Against no side has Man City striker Erling Haaland scored more Premier League goals than his five against Manchester United. Indeed, only Sergio AgĆ¼ero (8) has scored more Manchester derby goals for the Citizens in the competition than Haaland.

Casemiro is used to big games like this and he’s ready for the derby at the Etihad this afternoon.
“Well, you get used to it, you know?” the Man United midfielder said. “In the end, when you play so many matches.
āIn the end, despite being a derby and an important game for us, we know that at the end of the day, every game is important.
“We know that in order to win, if we win that match it’ll boost the team morale and the club morale, especially considering how important it would be for the end of the season.
āBut we have to face every match like a final, as if they were all important matches. So I think this is another important match for us.”

Phil Foden knows exactly what the Manchester derby means for the fans, having been on himself.
And the Man City star has been speaking about the importance of the game pre-match.
ā[It’s] very special,” Foden said. “I know what itās about, I know how the fans feel. Itās a big occasion and Iām happy that Iām part of it.
āI feel thereās a little bit more pressure on the game because itās the one that everyone cares about. Itās the one fans want to win desperately.
āJust to win ā it doesnāt matter how. Just to win the game is important for us and the season.
āIāve scored a couple of times [against Manchester United]. Hopefully, I can continue to do that and help the team win.ā

Kobbie Mainoo starts his first Manchester derby having starred in the Man United side this season.
There have been calls to include the 18-year-old in the squad for EURO 2024 this summer, including from former England international Gary Lineker.
But one player has warned not to rush the teenager’s development – and he knows a thing or two about that after being named in England’s 2006 World Cup squad at the age of 16.
“I didn’t have any experience in the Premier League as well,” Theo Walcott told talkSPORT reporter Ian Abrahams at the London Football Awards on Thursday.
“It is very different but he is starting to establish himself at one of, if not, the biggest clubs in the world.
“For me, from what I’ve seen of him as well and going off my experiences, obviously we are quick to jump on new talents coming through, but he is exceptional, he really is.
“But let’s dampen the expectations just a little bit, because as a man of experience who went to a World Cup at a young age and didn’t play, the eyes are on you.
“And they always will be on you. But for me, he is going to be knocking on that door pretty soon.”
Walcott issues warning to Mainoo amid calls for Man United teen to follow in his footsteps

Man City vs Man United: Match facts
Manchester Unitedās loss to Fulham last time out was their 10th Premier League defeat of the season ā only in 2013-14 and 2021-22 (both 12) have they ever lost more in a single campaign.
Man City have kept three clean sheets in their last four Premier League games, as many as they had in their previous 20. Theyāre looking to record three consecutive shutouts for the first time since December 2021, but they havenāt kept a clean sheet in both league meetings with Manchester United in a campaign since 1973-74.
No fixture in Premier League history has seen more away wins than Man City v Man Utd (22, level with Aston Villa v Liverpool). Indeed, of the 54 fixtures to be played 40+ times in the competition, the Manchester derby sees the highest proportion of away wins (42% – 22/53).

Erik ten Hag does not fear Manchester City this afternoon despite losing this fixture 6-3 last season.
The Man United boss explained: “They have a good team but there are more good teams.
āThey have won in the last season, so this last year, everything, but we know and that is the challenge. But also Liverpool is a very good team and there are more good teams.
āWe like the challenge and we are looking forward to the challenge with them.”

Man City have won three of the last four Manchester derbys, but Pep Guardiola isn’t expecting another win to be a given.
Guardiola said: āUnited went to Anfield last season and lost 7-0. This season everyone said it would be easy for Liverpool. What was the result? They didnāt win.
āThe past is the past. We cannot deny how good he [ten Hag] has done in the past in Amsterdam. In different situations, I know my players will behave in Old Trafford with the right character and do their best.
āItās going to happen and itās going to be a real tough game. We have to be humble enough to respect our opponent.
āItās not just the fact of United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa is there. We have to fight week by week to win the title.
āItās another final for us. Itās here more difficult than Old Trafford, we lost more here. We have to perform really well.ā

Man City vs Man United
Antony’s United career hit a new low when he was brought on in the ninth minute of stoppage time during the defeat to Fulham.
The game, which incidentally came on the Brazilian’s 24th birthday, saw Antony manage just one touch before the whistle blew.
It marks a huge decline for the man who starred for Ten Hag at Ajax before following him to United for a whopping Ā£80million.
Ten Hag was asked if the decision to leave Antony out was down to match fitness, and gave a brutal response.āIt was nothing to do with fitness,ā he said. āHe is fit but we have many options on the right side where we lack in other positions due to injuries.
āThe form Antony is in we all have seen and he has to step up. I see it in training, but also Omari [Forson] and Amad Diallo and Garnacho deserve to play.ā
There were thoughts that a return to the Etihad, the location of one of Antony’s rare moments of quality in red, might be the start of a redemption arc.
However, he has dropped back to the bench this afternoon after starting in the cup in midweek…

Kevin De Bruyne is fit to start for Manchester City!
His inclusion will be a huge boost for the hosts who also bring in Kyle Walker and Jeremy Doku following their win over Bournemouth last week.
As for Man United, Marcus Rashford stays up front despite plenty of criticism over his recent performances.
Jonny Evans is at centre-back for the Red Devils, replacing the injured Harry Maguire.
It looks as if Bruno Fernandes could play a wider role with Scott McTominay more advanced in midfield.

Man City vs Man United: Match facts
Manchester United have lost their visit to the Etihad Stadium in the last two Premier League seasons, shipping 10 goals in the process (4-1 in 2021-22, 6-3 in 2022-23). The Red Devils last had a longer run of successive away league defeats to rivals Manchester City from August 1952 to September 1955 (4 in a row).

For Erik ten Hag, he is tasked with making sure his Man United team are motivated enough for the game.
Asked how he is going to convince his players they can beat Man City today, Ten Hag said: “Our form. We are also in a good run.

āIt is so nice to have those fixtures,ā said Guardiola. “I prefer that than the opposite. We are a team and the key players are everyone.
āEvery one is so important and it is so nice to have this fixture against United, to have the chance to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Man City vs Man United
Today’s Manchester Derby is taking place at a strange time with the game getting underway at 3:30pm this afternoon.
It is not the first time that this has happened in this game – and not even the first time this season.
Man United were thrashed 3-0 earlier this season in October at Old Trafford in a Sunday kick-off, which went ahead at 3:30.
A statement was made at the time, which read: “The derby with Manchester City will be staged towards the end of the month, with the Old Trafford encounter being moved to 29 October, kicking off at 3.30pm.
“The fixture, which we won 2-1 last season with Marcus Rashford netting a memorable winner, is to be shown live on Sky Sports in the UK.
“The unusual start time was agreed following consultation between the clubs, the broadcaster and local authorities.”
It is likely that this is the reason why it was changed again.
