Sir Jim Ratcliffe has one heck of a job on his hands.

After officially becoming a 27.7 per cent shareholder in Manchester United last week, the INEOS chairman watched his beloved Red Devils lose dismally at home to Fulham on Saturday. Erik ten Hag’s side suffered a deserved 2-1 defeat, their eighth home loss of the season in all competitions, as their chances of finishing in the Champions League spots suffered a serious blow.

Unless he sacks Ten Hag, Ratcliffe’s first major event as co-owner will be the summer transfer window, with outgoings seemingly just as important as incomings. The British billionaire has criticised the work of previous regimes but now it’s his turn to call the shots – and one particular departure would be a huge statement.

Here’s a round-up of the latest news from Old Trafford.

Rashford facing ‘uncertain’ future

Marcus Rashford is among the players who could be sold by Manchester United this summer. According to the MEN, Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to sanction at least 10 departures – including high-earning players – and it’s reported that Rashford’s future is uncertain.

Having signed a new long-term contract last summer, putting him on more than £300,000 per week, the England international has only scored five goals in 25 Premier League games and some supporters are urging Ratcliffe to ship him out.

Ten Hag sent damning verdict

Erik ten Hag has been told that his Manchester United players ‘didn’t want it enough’ against Fulham. Calvin Bassey, who scored Fulham’s opening goal at Old Trafford before Alex Iwobi’s 97th-minute winner, claims that it was desire, not quality, which separated the sides.
